History

There is a group of villagers whose source of income is coconut, and their earnings are extremely minimal that they are not able to afford any kind of education for their children. Among the villagers is one who had newly completed the memorisation of the Qur’an, and thus volunteered to teach the children in their old masjid (a dilapidated hut made of nippa - coconut trunks and leaves). The group started small, however it eventually grew until the whole group successfully memorised the Juz Ammah. It was from there that the teacher approached the village leaders with a concern to build some classroom facilities for the children.

Present day

When news reached neighbouring municipalities of the classes, parents would travel from far distances so their children could join the weekend classes in Orandang - it did not matter that they had to sit in these hut contraptions. The thirst for ‘ilm is so high that approximately 60% of the children are from outside of the Orandang municipality. Due to the lack of facilities, the children are receiving a limited hours of learning and only during the weekends. The Orandang community was more than glad to receive the children and another nippa hut was constructed.

Give where it is needed most - EDUCATION

In cooperation with Muslim Aid Sweden, we have pledged to raise funds in order to build a community school for the children in Orandang. Currently the nippa huts are able to accommodate less than 100 children, and there are so many more children waiting for a space to learn.

With the newly-constructed community school, these children shall be able to receive proper education during the weekdays - just like other children around the world. When completed the one-storey school building should be able to accommodate up to 300 children, and shall have 4 classrooms, 3 washrooms, a canteen, and other school facilities (tables, chairs, whiteboards).

A breakdown of the school needs

In the current dilapidated hut, the locals are only able to fit less than 100 children and for just a mere few hours at a time during the weekends only.  The community has at least 300 boys and girls, all deprived of education due to the lack of proper learning facilities. With the newly-constructed community school, these children shall be able to get proper education during the weekdays - just like other children around the world.

When completed the one-storey school building shall have 4 classrooms, along with other school facilities such as 3 washrooms, a canteen, and other school facilities (tables, chairs, whiteboards).
