American Muslim Fund is leading sacred, sustainable & strategic Muslim philanthropy for today & future generations.

Message from our Co-Founder

Salam everyone,

Over the last two years, I've been working hard to build something unique, a community foundation for Muslims in the United States called the American Muslim Fund. We have a long way to go, but we've made some great progress with a small team. I've been in fundraising as a profession for the last 10 years. From small nonprofits to large institutions. I'm doing what I can to use my skillset and passion to bring best practices and lessons learned to the Muslim community.

Research from GivingUSA shows that the average charitable household gives $3,000 a year. According to the National Philanthropic Trust, in 2017 alone, over 460,000 DAFs exist across the country which provided $19 billion to charities. Giving USA reported Americans gave $410 billion in 2017. That's why American Muslim Fund wants to work with Muslim families to establish Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and Giving Circles across the country to be more impactful with their zakat and sadaqa. We're also interested in partnering with nonprofits to build sustainable organizations and endowments. 

Imagine if we could track these statistics for 3.5 million American Muslims. Working with 28 families that have DAFs under management at AMuslimFund, we have distributed $600,000 since July 2017. I'm confident one day, we'll be not only 1% of the U.S. population, but also 1% of charitable giving distributed to make our world a better place.
