Imam Khalid Latif had the opportunity to go to our warehouse in Gaza to package relief items a few months ago. 

From Imam Khalid Latif: 

"I'll be going with Penny Appeal Canada to Egypt from December 18th - 20th inshallah to help pack their humanitarian relief aid trucks that have been given approval to cross the Rafah border and get much needed food, medical assistance, emergency shelter, hygiene products, and more to the people of Gaza right now. This aid is getting to the people in Gaza and I'm asking each of you to give what you can so that we can fill these trucks again and again and provide as much to them as possible. All contributions to this campaign are zakat-eligible and will also be tax-deductible for US and Canadian Citizens.  The appropriate receipts will be provided through Penny Appeal Canada and Penny Appeal USA respectively based on the address you provide when donating. Please do give what you can - it will go a long way in helping out so many inshallah.  

I know it's a constant concern for many of us as to whether aid is actually reaching those who are in need of it.  Penny Appeal is working with The International Red Crescent and their trucks are part of 100 or so trucks that have been given permission to provide daily aid to our sisters and brothers in Gaza right now.  The steps below outline how aid is getting into Gaza with Penny Appeal.  You can see images from some of what they have been doing already at the bottom of the screen and I'll share more once I am on the ground. 

• Step 1: Supplies are procured and delivered into Penny Appeal's warehouse in Cairo where we pack all the boxes that will be delivered.
• Step 2: Packed supplies from the Penny Appeal warehouse go to the Egyptian Red Crescent warehouse where they will undergo an inspection to ensure all supplies that are declared to be delivered are packed and loaded.
• Step 3: Trucks are then sent to a final checkpoint next to Rafah crossing, where the supplies will undergo a secondary inspection.
• Step 4:  Once the supplies pass the secondary inspection, they are then put into a queue to enter Gaza through Rafah.
• Step 5: Once inside Gaza, Palestinian Red Crescent takes over and then distributes the supplies via our team on the ground in Gaza. Aid is currently being distributed in Khan Younis.
