Aida Youth Center is a grassroots community organisation located in Aida refugee camp, close to the city of Bethlehem in Palestine. Since 1968, Aida Youth Center has been supporting the camp's nearly 6,000 residents through humanitarian aid, arts and sports programmes, psychosocial services, and educational support. 

The Center provides crucial services to the refugee community, and its role has become increasingly important support from international organizations continues to dwindle. Meanwhile, needs in the camp have surged. The ongoing escalation in Gaza and the West Bank have put a strain on families in Aida camp. Cancelled work permits, arrests, severely reduced mobility and an economic crisis across the West Bank have left many families in the camp unable to make ends meet. Meanwhile, increased violence is affecting especially children’s wellbeing, with many struggling to keep up in school. 

Together, we can provide essential relief services to Palestinian refugees in Aida Refugee Camp. 

How Your Donations Support Aida Refugee Camp

With your donations we are providing humanitarian relief, healthcare services, and academic and psychosocial support. 

As an integral part of Aida refugee camp since 1968, Aida Youth Center is dedicated to meeting both the immediate and future needs of the community. With your donation, we will be able to distribute humanitarian aid, such as food baskets, to families in need. In addition, we will offer medical support to camp residents who are unable to pay for their own medication or medical insurance, so they can access essential treatment. 

Your contributions are also vital for supporting Palestinian refugee children's education and wellbeing. Our education program currently supports 150 children who are struggling in school or with their mental health. These children come to the Center five days a week to receive extra teaching in small classes, as well as psychosocial support to help cope with stress and trauma. However, there are many more children who need this kind of assistance, and the Center is currently unable to help them. With additional funds, we will construct more classrooms in our building, and enrol more children to give them the support they need. 

About Aida Camp and Aida Youth Center

Aida camp is a refugee camp near the Palestinian city of Bethlehem, in the West Bank. The camp was established in 1950 for 1,200 Palestinian refugees who were expelled from their villages. Now, nearly 6,000 people live on the same 0,071 square kilometers. Therefore, the camp is extremely overcrowded, and housing and infrastructure are poor. In addition, the camp is located next to the separation wall, seven watchtowers, an Israeli military base, and several settlements. As a result, the inhabitants of Aida camp face violence on a daily basis. 

Aida Youth Center was established in 1968 by Palestinian refugees themselves to support the community of Aida camp, especially its children and youth. We provide a safe space where young people can access quality education, psychosocial support, sports training, and music and art classes. We also mobilize in times of crisis to support the refugee community with aid and medical support.
