Let’s Read and Understand

Have you struggled to appreciate the message of the Quran in a language you understand? Have you ever wished for accessible content that guides you through Allah’s Book and helps you apply its lessons to your life?

The Divine Book Club is a new podcast led by a scholar of Tafsir, with a down-to-earth approach aimed at sharing the essential teachings of Islam to people and encouraging them to build their Quran literacy.

Making it Easy

All Muslims believe in the importance of reading and reflecting on the Quran, but many struggle to make the time, and sometimes people feel intimidated to read it by themselves. This podcast strikes the right balance by using a smooth and easy translation with just enough commentary to promote good understanding.

Sh. Sohaib Saeed (graduate of Al-Azhar and founder of Ibn ‘Ashur Centre) has a strong track record in Quran education, and his guests will help keep the discussion flowing with the kind of questions that YOU want to ask.

The podcast is hosted by QuranReflect, a project associated with the leading website Quran.com. Watch the whole pilot episode (Surat Ya-Sin) on our YouTube channel (subscribe to get all the updates).

The Global Quranic Calendar

The DBC podcast will be the first to adopt the new system created for Quran.com and the entire Ummah. The Quran has been divided into 46 weekly portions covering the time between one Ramadan and the next. In this way, we encourage people to read the whole Quran in any language they understand, and to support the practice of reciting regularly in Arabic.

You can find this feature at quran.com/calendar - beginning with Level 1 reading (basic translations). We will then expand this to more literacy levels, incorporating basic commentary and Arabic vocabulary.

QuranReflect Weekly Roundup

Since the goal is to get people reading and talking about the Quran, this podcast will keep directing people to make use of the social platform at QuranReflect.com.

As part of our engagement with the reflection community, Sh. Sohaib Saeed will join forces with QR’s head of community empowerment, Sh. Hammad Fahim, to film a Weekly Roundup of the best and most interesting reflections on that week’s reading portion.

About our Centre

The Ibn ‘Ashur Centre for Quranic Studies, based in the UK, combines its focus on specialist knowledge with effective partnerships with organisations working to spread the essential teachings of the Quran far and wide, such as Bayyinah Institute and Quran.Foundation.

Your generous donations will be used primarily for production (filming and editing) to a high professional standard. They will also allow us to hire personnel to engage with the audience on social media, so our team of scholars can build on the feedback and queries to improve our future series. The funds will also support our general work to develop materials for The Global Quranic Calendar.
