Next step to our community growth: The MAC Field House!

We are excited to share an incredible new project for the MCWS community: the MAC Field House!

This will be a 10,000 square foot purpose built athletic and multi-purpose use facility, attached to our existing (and thriving) MAC - Medina Activity Center - building. 

To make it happen we'll also be purchasing the land south of the MAC and adding an additional 125-175 parking spots.

A brief history of MCWS

MCWS was founded in 1977 by young Muslim parents concerned about preserving their Islamic identity and values in the US. They began with weekly study sessions at their homes and later rented the Bryant Junior High School as attendance grew.

Registering MCWS as a non-profit organization allowed them to hold fundraising dinners and plan for a facility to accommodate their needs. After considering multiple options and working with other Muslim communities, a piece of land was purchased in Canton for a masjid and school sharing the same campus, MCWS and Crescent Academy.

Acquisition of the MAC

As the community grew, we knew we needed more space to host a diversity of programs to reach our diverse community. 

In 2019 we were blessed to purchase ITT, a for-profit technical school on the corner of Haggerty and Palmer (just 1 minute driving from MCWS), for $3 million.

Features of the MAC

The MAC was one of the best investments we made as a community, and it's buzzing daily with programs for men and women, boys and girls, of all ages!

Some of the key features the MAC is used for includes:

• Musalla - Daily, Friday, and Taraweeh Prayers
• MACtaba Center Library
• Banquet Facility
• Youth Lounges - Brothers & Sisters
• Office Space - Businesses & Organizations
• Fitness Center - Tiny but busy!
• Community Classes

Future Services - the MAC continues to expand its reach!

Even though the MAC is almost at capacity, we can see so many ways it can continue to add value and will be adding the following within the year inshallah:

• Community Cafe
• Podcast Studio
• Lobby
• Updated bathrooms & wudu stations

Our community needs more

This community is so amazing that the MAC is not actually big enough to serve everyone!

The feedback is incredible and there's a constant stream of new ideas - there's so much more we can do if we had more space.

Our next chapter: MAC Field House

This is why we are so eager and excited to launch the MAC field house. 

We'll be able to serve the community in bigger, better ways including:

• Eid Salah
• Large events - e.g. Ramadan Bazar, Community Dinners, etc.
• Seminars & Education programs - e.g. ALIM program, Al-Maghrib program, etc.
• Health & Wellness - Diverse athletic options
• Sports - Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball, etc.

Phase 1 - Field House + parking by December 2023

It is CRITICAL we purchase this land now while we can, you never know when another buyer will come along.

With this land, we will be able to add a full-functional field house before the end of the year (thanks in part to a modular structure being delivered from Florida). 

Additionally we'll be able to add an extra 125-175 parking spots.

Phase 2 - Field House expansion by Mid 2024

Phase 2 will come the following year, where we can add a 12,000 square foot extension to the Field House with a kitchen, classrooms etc. as well as a playground, picnic shelter, community garden and more

We are looking for 100 corporate sponsors to commit to $5,000 a year for 3 years ($15,000 total).

• Sponsor Banner in new fieldhouse similar to the large image above (placement will be finalized after structure opens with consultation)

This would count as a business expense and 100% deductible from your business income.
