As ex-staff and students of London Islamic School, as a community, ‘Friends of Mawlana Thohur Uddin’ are coming together to raise funds for the founding Principal Mawlana Thohur Uddin, who sadly passed away on 12th November 2021. I am representing my class/team in the Mawlana Thohur Uddin Memorial Cup to raise funds for the construction of a new girls Madrasah in Sylhet, Bishwanath, Bangladesh which is Mawlana Thohur Uddins area of birth. This Madrasah will cater for an important need catering for girl orphans and serve as a Sadaqah Jaariyah project for our beloved Principal.

Why This Cause?
Mawlana Thohur Uddin (fondly known as Boro Huzur) was a founding chairman of Ford Square Masjid and the founding Principal of the London Islamic School, Ford Square Maktab, and Darul Uloom Ford Square post-16 provision. His life was dedicated to Islam and Islamic education, leaving a lasting legacy of service to the community in UK, to a point he couldn’t dedicate that time to his area back home.

To honour his memory, ex staff and ex-students have chosen a cause that reflects his life’s mission. The Madrasah will offer both the Aalimiyah and Hifdh programmes for girls, along with other essential services. Last year competition funds raised were used to pay the foundations and start the works which continue to take place. 

This years funds raised will be used to support:

• Completion of the construction of the building and facilities.
• Student sponsorships and scholarships.
• Educational resources, including Qurans and Kitaabs.
• Water wells and other vital infrastructure.

By contributing to this project, we aim to multiply the streams of Sadaqah Jaariyah for Boro Huzur, ensuring his legacy lives on.

Each class has a target of raising £2,000 towards a total goal of £32,000, which will enable us to achieve this noble mission.

• Football Cup: Awarded to the winning team.
• Highest Fundraising Class Cup: For the class that raises the most funds.
• Top Individual Fundraiser Prize: Recognising individual efforts.
   

This day will also serve as a reunion for classmates, rekindling the bonds of brotherhood and Islam while reconnecting with the Madrasah that shaped our lives.
