Providing an Islamic learning platform accompanied by a close-knit supporting community is what we, WAPENA, a community serving Indonesian and Malaysian muslim ummah aim to do at the heart of Europe in Vienna, Austria. You can play a huge part in this mission by improving our facilities in order to serve better and bigger!

Salaam from a gathering of muslims 10,000 km away from home in the heart of Europe, the city of music: Vienna, Austria!

Despite being far away from our tropical home countries, with a determination to learn & serve Islam, we gather every few days of the week in our Masjid As-Salam (As-Salam Mosque), a 106 m² rented basement in the 12th district.​​

​A blessed and beneficial space,

the mosque since its opening (Jan 2012) alhamdulillah has benefited a community of 100+ people. The provided services include:

1) discussion platform & learning classes on Islamic knowledge conducted in Bahasa for Indonesian & Malaysian muslims living in Vienna

2) Friday prayer with English khutbah & Mualaf (new muslims) discussion in English for everyone & anyone who's interested!

The plan to grow bigger ☼

The beneficial knowledge & learning enthusiasm of the community result in ~20 participants of each class. It hadn't only moved & inspired us to serve better... it also brings the limited space problem:

• Children Qur'an Reading Class only has one class room → the lesson becomes ineffective due to no age separation
• Adult Tahsin Class is separated for male and female, both held in the prayer room → the parallel classes create overlapping sounds which disturb each other
• New initiative for Teenage Qur'an Learning Class to nurture the Islamic spirit of the young adults → there is no space left in the occupied class and prayer rooms
• The Small Grocery Store which in 2017 profited €1400 from its 6 m² space has a big ambition to grow and fulfill its intention to self-fund the mosque in the future → the store has limited space to expand (i.e. adding more shelves, selling more items)
  
  

Facing these problems, the need for more spaces is unavoidable. Since the improvement will bring a lot of khair (goodness), a reasonable way forward is to buy a bigger space for our mosque. This in sya Allah will bring massive & endless benefits for the ummah in the future, such as:

1. Improving Children Qur'an Class from one class into three age-separated classes (< 6 yrs, 6-12 yrs, > 12 yrs) for a more comprehensive learning.

2. Providing more space for Adult Tahsin Class to accommodate more students and create a more effective learning environment.

3. Expanding the self-funding business by adding selling capacity and opening a small cafe.
