AssalamuAlaikum, My name is Moaaz (@lifewithmoaaz). It is an honour to be able to travel to Palestine/Jordan this Ramadan 2023. I will be going with Human Concern International to deliver aid, provide support, and meet families that need food aid, health care aid, and much more. Ramadan is a blessed time; our rewards are multiplied, the gates of Jannah are open, and charity is elevated in ranks that can get us to Jannatul Firdous.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) would give charity throughout the year but increase his sadaqa during Ramadan. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people, and he was most generous during Ramadan” (Hadith, Bukhari)

HELP THE PEOPLE OF GAZA

The innocent residents of Gaza face an imminent threat to their lives and the lives of their loved ones. The people of Gaza have no room to breathe. Their lives are unpredictable. While they stand together as a nation fragmented by checkpoints and borders, we need to stand together to demonstrate our support and solidarity with them. Your donations have a more significant impact. 

Your donations will contribute to Food Aid delivery, Medical Care,  and general Emergency Relief Aid. 

We will be visiting Refugee camps and distributing Ramadan food in both Palestine and Jordan, we will visit children/families that have had eye-surgeries, and your donations will allow the patients to receive their eye surgeries. We will also plant Olive Trees, which your donation will contribute to. “There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him.” (Bukhari). 

Eye Surgies for Visually Impaired

HCI collaborated with a Canadian charity registered in Jordan to perform eye surgeries for children with critical vision issues. This allows eye surgeries for children from Jordan's underprivileged Palestinian refugee community. There is a waiting list for children that need different types of these eye surgeries. The average cost per surgery is CAD3,000 which is a reduced cost as the sergeants, and the hospital is donating their time and the operation room.

HCI PROJECTS IN GAZA, REHABILITATION HOUSES AND WATER

HCI has a history of projects in Gaza for over 20 years ranging from food basket distributions to house rehabilitation and water desalination units. 

PALESTINE EMERGNCY RELIEF

Israeli forces reportedly entered the al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday night, where hundreds of Palestinian worshippers were peacefully observing the holy month of Ramadan. According to reports, heavily armed officers used force to remove those who had remained on site after the Taraweeh night prayer. This included firing tear gas and stun grenades into the Qibli prayer hall, where men, women, elderly people, and children were staying overnight to pray. Videos from inside the mosque showed Israeli officers beating people repeatedly with batons while they appeared to lie on the floor, while women and children cried out for help in the background.

Israeli police have claimed that they arrested dozens of "rioters" from al-Aqsa Mosque to restore order. However, Palestinian groups have accused Israeli authorities of infringing on their freedom of religious practice, saying that they have been removing worshippers from al-Aqsa Mosque every night since the start of Ramadan. Israeli forces have also been restricting who can enter the site and when, including those who wish to practise Itikaf, a non-mandatory religious practice during Ramadan whereby worshippers stay at mosques overnight to pray, reflect and recite the Quran. Palestinians have refused to comply with Israeli authorities' ban on Itikaf at Al-Aqsa Mosque outside of the last ten days of Ramadan.

Temple Movement groups, which facilitate settler incursions and advocate for the destruction of Al-Aqsa, have called for mass stormings throughout the week-long Passover holiday, which began on Wednesday. They have also called for conducting ritual animal slaughter at the site, which could trigger anger from Palestinians and Muslims worldwide. Palestinian groups have urged mass presence at the site this week to prevent the planned animal slaughter and mass incursions.

It is important to note that Al-Aqsa Mosque is an Islamic site where unsolicited visits, prayers, and rituals by non-Muslims are forbidden according to decades-long international agreements. However, Israeli groups, in coordination with authorities, have long violated the delicate arrangement and facilitated raids of the site and performed prayers and religious rituals.

The Al-Aqsa Medical Clinic that serves around 100-200 people daily has been destroyed! HCI works very closely with this clinic to assist people in Palestine. Help us rebuild and revive it so that we can continue to provide medical aid for the people of Palestine. New medical equipment and supplies are urgently needed!
