Human Concern International is setting out on a journey to visit East Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon. While there, HCI staff will distribute food, winter clothing, portable heaters, and more.

Turkey (Uyghurs and Syrians)

In Turkey, our main goal is to support Uyghur single mothers and orphans. Due to the situation in China, there are many single mothers who have had their husbands killed, captured, or gone missing. HCI will sponsor Uyghur orphans and support a vocational training center to equip Uyghur single mothers with skills to earn a living. We will be providing sowing machines and training for the single mothers so that they can earn a living for themselves and their families. 

In Eastern Turkey there are thousands of orphaned children living in orphanages. These children are taken care of through donations made by you. They receive shelter, clothing, food, education, healthcare and more. While we have provided children with the support they need, there are thousands of children who remain without help. We need your support to ensure that no child is left behind. 

SYRIA 

HCI is working towards moving internally displaced Syrians from untenable living conditions in tents into mud and brick neighborhoods. These neighborhoods will provide internally displaced Syrians - families, women, children, and seniors - with dignified living. They'll have a mosque for communal gathering and worship. They'll have a school for their children to learn and grow. They'll have homes that protect them from the cold winds, harsh winter season, and the aggressive heat of the summer. 

The most important thing they'll have is a new found sense of home and community. Your donations will truly make an impact in building lasting change. 

A school for children in new housing projects means that children have a chance at a better future. At the core of all HCI programs is education, because it is truly a stepping stone to a better life. Without education, children don't have a means to grow and contribute to their family and community's wellbeing. Your donations help build lasting change by opening the doors to education for all. 

One of our favorite projects are livelihood projects. Many internally displaced Syrians have had long careers and skilled backgrounds that make them precious assets to their communities. By empowering them to apply their skills and to earn a living, communities move from crisis to sustainability. 

One such example is farming. With the ability to farm, communities can be self sustaining with the food and vegetation they grow and cultivate. What's more is that they can even sell surplus into the open market and earn a living for their families. 

Your donations will help prop up livelihood programs to empower generations to come. 

Lebanon

In Lebanon, HCI provides refugees and families in need with stipends to access grocery stores. Granting families access to grocery stores provides a more dignified means of satisfying their family's food needs. 

Plus, each family has different needs. Some require diapers and baby formula, while others have no such needs and require other supplies more fitting for their family size and age group. 

Your donations are used to stock up on food supplies for families in need. 

Winter distribution efforts in Lebanon are about to begin. Every year we provide families in need with heaters, heating supplies, fuel sources, and winter clothing to ensure that everyone is kept warm during the cold winter months. 

Your donations this winter help ensure that more families have access to the winter supplies they need to survive the cold. 

Preparing Communities in Syria for The Winter

Staff members have begun distributing winter supplies and relief kits to prepare Syrians for the coming winter months. 
 

They're provided with food, clothing, blankets, and fuel sources to keep warm.
