As the sun sets on a old regime the political turmoil of a young nation grows. Where does the future lie as the people fight for unity?

Brief: Documenting a revolution from the eyes of a revolutionary's son

The Children of the Sun documents the narrative of a country which has captured the imagination of the world in 2024 through its popular uprising against a tyrannical regime.

A group of storytellers, filmmakers and popular Bangladeshi instigators come together to produce a beautiful documentary for a global audience dissecting the stories of hope and resilience in a country often portrayed in less-than inspiring terms.

The Narrative

Key Characters

The film highlights the young activists and the organisations at the forefront of Bangladesh’s fight for liberation. They battle economic inequality and the devastating impacts of the climate crisis, which threaten to reshape the nation’s future. Sayd meets with grassroots leaders and advocates working tirelessly to ensure equitable access to resources, protect vulnerable communities, and demand accountability from those in power. These movements reflect the enduring spirit of Bangladesh’s people to fight for their independence and future.

Project Status, Needs and Risks

For Children of the Sun, Sayd will be joined by a dedicated team of filmmakers, including a production team from Australia and local Bangladeshi producers. Sayd and his team are determined to provide a platform for the voices of ordinary Bangladeshis in their fight for justice.

The film is currently in its development stage, and cannot progress into production without funding to cover the costs of further writing, research and travel.

What funds will be used for

Your support will allow us to cover the costs of travelling to crucial cities, villages and farms across Bangladesh, where the stories of the people are waiting to be told. It will also help us access the necessary crew, equipment and resources needed for a quality production which will enable us to present these stories in the most impactful way possible.
