On August 4, 2020, Beirut was blown back to the wake of its 1975-1990 civil war.

In what was remembered as the ‘Paris of the Middle East’, two calamitous explosions rocked the world.

200 people were killed.
6,000 injured.
300,000 left homeless.
Many questions remain unanswered.

My name is Ghania Dib and this Ramadan, I'll be joining Osman Karolia on his 300km challenge by running and walking 200km throughout the blessed month to raise enough funds and awareness to support the people of Lebanon.

A Country In Crisis

It’s been eight months since the Beirut explosions occurred amid a faltering economic system. Health, economic, political and social situations continue to deteriorate with more than half of the population thrown into poverty.

Mariam lives in the remote outskirts of Baalbeck in Lebanon.

She is a 64-year-old widow and runs a cleaning service with her daughter to support the family, working hard just to survive.

The political and economic unrest in Lebanon has left thousands of families like Mariam’s in vulnerable situations.

The average monthly living expenses for a family of four in Australia is $5,000.
Mariam’s family of seven lives off of $75.

It is because of your donations that Penny Appeal Australia is able to provide winter emergency food parcels, supplies and bed covers to Mariam’s family.
