A Masjid with a Mission

Masjid Muhammad of Atlantic City, founded by African-Americans, is the oldest mosque in southern New Jersey. A principle part of our mission is to serve Muslims who are often overlooked by the larger Muslim community. We created and hosted three successful African-American Summits bringing together hundreds of people from across the country. Inner-city and African-American Muslim communities are frequently underserved, characterized by Imams who work without salaries, masjids on the verge of closing due to lack of funds, and other challenges. ​An Online Home

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved all of our educational programming online and broadened our reach. We provide free, daily and weekly classes through Facebook and YouTube. Additionally, we have launched “The Black Imam’s Roundtable” where Imams and community members discuss pressing issues in the African-American community and work towards finding solutions. On February 21st, we will host our first online Prophetic Seerah Conference, celebrating the life of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Also this month, we will be launching the Youth’s Roundtable, after many requests.

​We have received feedback from students around the country who are ecstatic to find teachers who address the unique issues faced in the African-American Muslim community. We have created a home, online, for many African-American Muslims.

Our mission has also been to revive the reading of classical Islamic books. In 2020 alone, we’ve completed the reading and teaching of eight books including Imam Al-Ghazali’s Forty Principles of The Religion, The Beginning of Guidance, Imam Al-Haddad’s Book of Assistance, and many more.
