Lebanon is currently fighting a pandemic, undergoing political unrest, and now trying to survive an unprecedented economic crisis.

Lebanon is currently fighting a pandemic, undergoing political unrest, and now trying to survive an unprecedented economic crisis. The country declared a two-week state of emergency in Beirut after the explosion on Tuesday that killed over 100 individuals, injured nearly 5,000 others, and left 300,000 homeless. These numbers are rising by the hour and officials discover further evidence and information.

The disastrous explosion has caused widespread damage reaching far past the outskirts of Beirut. Mothers have lost their children; children have lost their parents and siblings; loved ones have lost one another. Houses that took entire lifetimes to cultivate and transform into homes have now turned to ashes. At a complete loss of both emotional and financial support, the people of Beirut are more alone and in need than ever before.

Please donate today and help the people of Lebanon.

Update

This is what a home looks like right off of the port. And there are
thousands of other homes just like this. Among the few survivors was a
Syrian refugee family whose home I am standing in. They had fled a war
leaving behind everything they own trying to live a peaceful life and
start over only to lose everything that have in a blink of an eye.

Lisa Vogl is working with Muslim Aid USA to oversee Aid being delivered and provide a live update to the donors. The people of Beirut are
in desperate need of our help.  Please give generously.  May Allah
reward you.

On the Ground

Lisa Vogl, Social Media Coordinator for Muslim Aid USA is on the ground in Beirut, Lebanon. She just completed the first day in Beirut. Below is her update.

After a few hours of rest, the videographer and I toured the port of Beirut which is where the heart of the explosion took place. As we drove closer to the port, the extent of the destruction worsened. Although I am not a local of Beirut and did not witness the explosion itself, I was devastated to see the disastrous outcome.

I think about how I will be going back to the hotel each night — essentially a perfect home — after seeing the ruins of the explosion. Many of Beirut’s people do not. When we arrived at the port, everything was destroyed. There was nothing left of the countless homes that once stood there. I did not see a single home intact. Not a single one.

I am so grateful and relieved to see medical workers and volunteers from all over the world here in Beirut, offering their services to those in need. This further reminded me that we must all come together in order to make a difference.

I know you may have already given but Lebanon needs more.  Please continue to give generously to help families affected by the explosion in Beirut, and keep the country’s beautiful people in your sincerest prayers. Your support is needed.
