Rizq believes hunger exists not because resources are scarce, but rather mismanaged. Contrary to traditional economic models, Rizq aims to build a society not on self-interest but rather on values of compassion and dignity. A system where access to nutritious food is not a luxury, but a right given to all. 

This Ramadan, as millions face hunger after the recent floods and agricultural loss, Rizq will be providing freshly cooked iftaar meals and rations to needy families across Pakistan through the power of your Zakat and Sadaqat.

Hunger: A Systemic Injustice 

36.9% urban households in Pakistan face moderate to severe food insecurity (UNICEF)

16.5% of the population is undernourished (Global Hunger Index)

82% of the population cannot afford a healthy, nutritionally balanced diet (World Food Program)

11.8m people are facing high levels of acute food insecurity due to climate disasters (2025 Global Report on Food Crises)

These statistics are not a result of a shortage of food, but rather wasted abundance, as a staggering 36 million tonnes - 40% of the total food produce - is wasted annually in Pakistan. The traditional economic model of scarcity leads to self-interested behavior in the form of hoarding, and leads to wastage on one hand, and hunger on the other. 

Rizq Ramadan: A Call For Compassion

Rizq actively aims to undo this systemic injustice by presenting an alternative economic model, one driven not by a scarcity mindset, but one driven by compassion and generosity. Rizq believes that resources and sustenance, when shared, multiplies manifolds. This finds backing in the following Quranic verse:

"Who is he that will lend Allah a goodly loan: then (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit (in repaying), and he will have (besides) a good reward (i.e. Paradise)?"

Since 2015, Rizq has been organizing daily Iftar Dastarkhwans in multiple cities and agricultural lands around Pakistan, while also distributing Ration Packs during Ramadan to ensure that vulnerable families and individuals can observe Ramadan with dignity.

Rizq’s Ramadan campaign is unique and stands out due to the following characteristics:

• Dignified Serving: Everyone who eats at our dastarkhwans is a Guest of Allah, and is treated with utmost respect and dignity.
• Nurturing Youth Leaders: All Rizq dastarkhwans and ration drives are managed entirely by youth volunteers, making it one of the largest youth-led mobilizations in Ramadan.
• Open To Everyone: Rizq Dastarkhwans are open to all people regardless of gender, ethnicities and social class, where everyone is treated indiscriminately.
• Hygienic and Nutritious: All the food served throughout Ramadan is freshly prepared at the Rizq Central Kitchen ensuring hygiene and quality.
• Focused on Community Building: The Ramadan efforts go beyond one time serving of food, but are focused at building stronger communities on the values of generosity.
