The Muslim Community here in Canada has been steadily growing in recent decades.

As with many Muslim communities around the world, we have our fair share of challenges and opportunities to deal with. At the top of this list is undoubtedly the growth, development,  and tarbiyah of the next generation: our youth.

The best thing we can do for our youth is to provide them with quality Islamic education so they can become upright Muslims, build a strong relationship with Allah (SWT), become leaders in their community, and be proud of their identity. 

We need more leaders, scholars, and Imams now more than ever. They are an important source for Islamic guidance, education, community programming, spiritual counselling, community engagement, and are our role models to follow.

When a community has strong leaders, scholars, and Imams in place then everyone benefits and we become stronger. However, when there is a shortage, we witness individuals, families, and the community fall short of reaching their full potential.

With each passing year, our community as a whole is faced with new sets of challenges in terms of practicing our faith. Muslims today are struggling with all kinds of problems, and we need more Islamic leaders rooted in strong, foundational knowledge to help us navigate them and provide practical solutions. 

The team here at Siraj Institute is dedicated to supporting the next generation of youth and young adults in becoming the future scholars and leaders our communities need.

Siraj Institute utilizes essential Islamic concepts of mentorship and community engagement to deliver quality Islamic education.

We have an amazing team of brothers and sisters working with us. Our faculty members have – cumulatively – over 100 years of experience in teaching Islamic studies. Our diploma program is recognized by over 40 Islamic universities around the world.

The objective of the Siraj team is to launch an Islamic education waqf (ie. an endowment fund) to support the studies of future students.

The creation of this waqf will enable our team to achieve its mission to support future students in accessing quality, authentic Islamic knowledge.

We need to create a waqf to make it possible for aspiring students to join our Islamic Studies diploma program at no cost to them.

We all know the value of seeking knowledge and the level of understanding, confidence, and honour that comes with learning our own religion.

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) said, “Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” (Saheeh Muslim)

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) said: “When a human being dies, all one's deeds cease, save three: a Sadaqah Jariyah, [religious] knowledge [one leaves behind] from which others benefit, and a righteous child who prays for one” (Saheeh Muslim).

This is your opportunity to contribute directly to the development of the next generation of Muslim leaders and scholars. This is also an opportunity for you to give sadaqah jariya and earn ajr (reward) for many years to come. 

To honour our founding president and renowned Muslim scholar, Dr. Ali Saadi (may Allah have mercy on him), we will name this Waqf after him.

The future of our youth and the community is in need of your support more than ever. 

These blessed days of Dhul Hijjah are among the best times to give as Allah (SWT) multiplies the reward of the believers.

Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said, ‘There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days’. [Saheeh Bukhari]

Similar to Ramadan, giving in charity during the days of Dhul Hijjah has its reward too. Allah (SWT) tells us in the Qur'an of the reward for giving:

"Those who spend of their goods (in charity) by night and by day in secret and in public shall have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.” (Surah Baqarah: Chapter 2, Verse 274)" 

Allah (SWT) also says:

"The example of those who spend in the way of Allah is just like a grain that produced seven ears, each ear has a hundred grains and Allah multiplies (the reward) for whom He wills. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing (Surah Baqarah: Chapter 2, Verse 261)

We encourage you to contribute to our Islamic education waqf.
