Help My Daughter Heal: Urgent Medical Support Needed

As a parent, my heart is heavy as I share the unexpected turn our family’s life has taken. My bright, bubbly, and ambitious daughter is now hospitalised in Jakarta, far from home, battling a complex medical condition that has left her physically drained and in need of urgent care.

Her Condition: A Complex Medical Journey

What began as a joyful school holiday in Jakarta—spending time with her family and challenging herself to grow personally—has turned into an unimaginable ordeal.

• My daughter has been diagnosed with acute tonsillar pharyngitis, which has escalated into abscesses in her tonsils. She is unable to eat or drink due to the immense pain and will require an operation to address this concern.
• Compounding her condition, she developed severe bruising and blood vessel damage around her left eye, initially suspected to be Tuberculosis. While TB was ruled out, doctors now suspect these symptoms may be caused by anomalies in her blood, leading to further investigations.
• A team of specialists is conducting extensive tests, including a Bone Marrow Biopsy, to investigate potential autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, Leukaemia, Aplastic Anaemia, and other conditions. These investigations are essential to identify the root cause of her symptoms and stabilise her condition before proceeding with the operation.

Currently, she is extremely lethargic, unable to speak, eat, or drink, and is struggling to regain her strength.

To provide her with the best possible care, she is being transferred from THT Proklamasi Hospital to RSCM Kencana in Jakarta, a facility equipped with specialised teams to better diagnose and treat her complex condition.

A Snapshot of My Daughter

My daughter is not just a patient in a hospital bed. She is a vibrant young lady, loved deeply by her family and friends.

• This year, she will be in Year 12 at Wisdom College, Calamvale, QLD, excited to take on her final year of high school.
• Last year, she was overjoyed to be appointed as one of the School Captains for Community Engagement at Wisdom College—a role that reflects her kindness, leadership, and dedication to serving others.
• She has a growing love for public speaking and has been gradually coming out of her shell, embracing opportunities to express herself and inspire others.
• With a bright personality, bubbly energy, and a passion for learning, she is admired and cherished by everyone who knows her.
• Her ultimate aspiration is to influence the future of education for our youth, driven by her desire to create meaningful change and empower the next generation.

Her future holds so much promise, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help her overcome this challenge and return to pursuing her dreams.

Financial Overview and How Funds Will Be Used

So far, we have spent approximately $2,500 AUD for her initial hospital stay. Additionally, we have incurred a separate cost of $1,500 AUD for a Bone Marrow Biopsy (BMB). The operation to address her acute tonsils and swollen throat areas is estimated to cost around $8,000 AUD, excluding further expenses such as:

• Hospital transfer to the specialised facility at RSCM Kencana, which has a more advanced medical team to handle her condition.
• Ongoing daily hospital stays, which will increase depending on the duration of her treatment and recovery.
• Further tests and diagnoses to uncover the root cause of her condition and stabilise her complex blood situation.
• Any other of her and our family needs during this time period until she can be with us with Brisbane

These diagnoses are critical to ensure her health is stabilised before she undergoes the necessary surgery for her tonsils, throat, and associated complications. Without addressing her blood anomalies and identifying the underlying cause, the operation would pose significant risks to her well-being.

We will channel all funds received directly into her medical expenses and reasonable family expenses to support her to ensure she receives the care she needs until she can return home to Brisbane, and regain her health back in full - by the will and permission of Allah. 

The initial campaign was targeting for AU$25k based on first draft of rough estimation. However, the past 24 -48 hours there has been an adjustment to the target as there were other costs associated with her care based to date diagnostics and rough estimates for what may come in the next few days post the BMB report. 

If there are any excess funds beyond her medical needs & reasonable family living supports during this period, they will be donated to registered local charity organisations in Brisbane and/or across Australia to support others in need.

Our Family’s Financial Challenge

While we have always strived to manage on our own and have done our best to support others through the time and financial means that Allah has blessed us with, the urgency and complexity of our daughter’s medical situation have left us with no choice but to humbly ask for support.

The mounting medical expenses—including hospitalisation, blood transfusions, specialist consultations, tests, and the upcoming surgery—have placed a significant financial burden on our family. I am currently transitioning from a corporate career to building my own business, which has made it even more challenging to manage these unexpected costs.

Your support during this difficult time means the world to us and will make a profound difference in ensuring our daughter receives the care she needs to heal and return home stronger.

Update 26 Jan 2025: 

Subhanallah. We are so overwhelmed with love and care that are being shown to our family- in particular our daughter. And this is also shown from the kindness of everyone in this campaign. 

Despite her age, the past 1.5 years of her line, she has grown and flourish, and always show that value of care to people that she met. 

The battle for her isn’t only physical, but also in her mind. As a family, we are trying to keep her fighting spirit up. And she said “there is voices inside of me that say “what’s the point of fighting this? But then I remember Allah and remember the love and support from people that I know and I don’t know, and I am going to keep on fighting”

Please make dua for her and our family, for Allah to strengthen her heart and heal her whole being - physical emotional and spiritual.

This is a long journey for us as a family. We are still waiting for the full results from the Bone Marrow Biopsy and which will influence the treatment regime. And that may influence the target that we are seeking funding from the community to help her and our family.
