We are on a mission to assure that the needs of the community are strengthened through the expansion of our Tajweed and Quran Memorization Weekend School and the implementation of a self-sustaining model. The Qur'an is a healing for the mind, body, and spirit. We are determined to take advantage of this mercy Allah has allotted to us to assist in enhancing the quality of life spiritually, physically, and mentally of its members and neighbors where possible.

The entire world has witnessed a devastating event that continues up until today (COVID-19 pandemic). Despite this, Masjid al-Mu'min remains resilient during these trying times.  Allah, the Most High, gave us the tawfiq (permission) to stay open to establish the five obligatory daily prayers as well as to conduct Jumu'ah services every Friday. We also maintained to provide fard 'ayn (Islamic individual obligation) classes for the brothers and sisters in-person and on several social media platforms.

Masjid al-Mumin works hard to continue to bring believers closer to Allah, the Most High, by means of the  Qur'an and the Sunnah of His beloved messenger that has been related to us by an unbroken chain, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.  The masjid offers a social component but as well as an educational component for those who belong to Masjid al-Mu'min and to our neighbors by means of dawah initiatives.

Last year in late 2020, we established the Tajweed and Memorization Qur'an Weekend School headed by our Hafiz of Qur'an from The Gambia. The Qur'an is the pinnacle of Islamic life, therefore we are seeking to expand our current weekend school to accommodate more students and in turn, flourish inshaa'allah into a full-fledge Quran School. 

The students that currently attend, are connecting themselves to a beautiful gift, the Qur'an. As a result, the students will have a firm connection with the Qur'an by having the proper recitation (tajweed), memorizing its words to be embedded within their hearts which will inshaa'allah shape their manners and character. This is essential so that they will know how to carry themselves honorably and know how to properly deal with Allah's creation and real-life situations.

Every Jumu'ah Friday is when we get most of our donations but most of the time it barely covers the cost of the operational expenses. In addition to this, we also have the need to support its' essential workers who provide essential spiritual guidance, Islamic education that is essential to one's belief, and the upkeep of the physical building structure.

We are a small community seeking to expand its programs and building structure to accommodate the youth, seniors, and children and those who attend as well as those who are seeking to join our Muslim community. This in turn will help strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood through fellowship and meaningful relationships. We also hope to maintain a sustainable model of income by offering rental property that will help masjid beyond its' operational cost. This is of most importance because the children that belong to Masjid al-Mu'min are the inevitable inheritors of this great important responsibility.

Sadaqah Jariyah is the gift that keeps on giving when we can no longer give in this physical life. The Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was reported to have said, "When a person dies, all of their deeds end except for three: A continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for their parents related by Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, in Sahih Muslim. Some examples are like helping to build a Masjid, teaching someone a hadith or surah, and raising a righteous child whose prayer will be of benefit to you after you leave this world inshaa'allah. Ramadan is upon us and it is the best month to give sadaqah to invest in your hereafter now that has ample rewards. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave the most charity in Ramadan.

We are in need of your support in the following areas and more:

1. To obtain rental property to support Masjid al Mu'min operational and administrative costs. 

2. The demolition and construction of an all-purpose building in the rear of the masjid that will serve as a common area, bookstore/coffee shop, and more; another means of self-sustainability. 

3. The replacement of all the windows of the masjid; they are rotted and contributes to the high cost of heating and cooling. 

c. Financing Islamic programs such as Islamic education that is ongoing such as the current class offerings by the Imam and Masjid al-Mu'min's Tajweed and Hafiz Quran Weekend School by the Hafiz.

The total cost to complete these projects is estimated to be $152,100. We know that this goal is possible to reach. You have helped us before with previous fundraisers that were a definite success. 

Remember, to actualize a functioning Islamic community is to put in the effort by means of financial backing to bring it to fruition. 

May Allah reward each and every one of you for your support however it comes. We are grateful for it all. Allah says, "If you are grateful, I will surely increase you (favor). Surah Ibrahim 14 verse 7.
