Make a Difference: Support Wasat's Community Space

The Story

Wasat stands as a testament to the power of unity and shared experiences in a world where division often takes the spotlight. Founded in Seattle, Wasat's mission is not just an idea; it's a living, breathing commitment to build a more inclusive, empathetic, and understanding community. Wasat is creating American Muslim culture rooted in sacred learning, arts, love and service.

Our gatherings, including our flagship food program Neighborly Needs, Rites of Passage, Becoming Muslims Together, and Journey of Hearts as well as our various arts, education, and culture initiatives, have already touched lives by promoting cultural awareness and connection for Muslims and beyond.  Alhamdulilah, we've had over 10,000 engagements through our community initiatives in 2024!  However, to deepen our impact and reach more hearts, we need a home—a place where people from all walks of life can come together, learn from each other, and create lasting bonds through the universal languages of art and education.

We asked you, the community, what Wasat needed the most: A dedicated space was the single highest item voted for in our last community survey (87%)! With community input we would like to sign an agreement for a shared space in the historic Washington Hall, home to several community empowering non profit organizations.  We urgently need to raise $40,000 to cover our rental costs for the year and make this our new community home.

The Details: Why Washington Hall

Every dollar you donate goes directly towards renting a welcoming, accessible space in Seattle that will serve as the physical heart of Wasat's operations.  This space will enable us to significantly expand our programs, host regular events, and provide a safe haven for community connection and growth.  We will have a shared co-working space during weekdays including a BIPOC run cafe, access to a fully equipped kitchen, and both an event hall and lounge for gatherings on Sundays, God Willing.  Our goal of $40,000 will cover the initial rental costs, setup, and operational expenses for our first year. With your help, we aim to open our doors within the next month, laying the groundwork for a future where everyone feels valued, understood, and connected.

How You Can Help

There are many ways to support our cause beyond monetary donations. Share our campaign on social media, tell your friends and family about our mission, or volunteer your time and skills to help make Wasat's physical space a reality. Every action, big or small, brings us closer to our goal.

Together, and by the will of Allah SWT, we can build a home for Wasat—a sanctuary of art, learning, and love that stands as a beacon of hope and unity in our community. Thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our dream.  Bismillah!
