donor stories
LaunchGood is a storybook of all the incredible good that Muslims are doing in the world. Every fundraiser is a chapter, and each donor is a character.
However, the generosity people show on LaunchGood is just a tiny reflection of something more powerful in your hearts.
We’re asking our donors what inspires them to do good - we’d love to hear your story too.

Returning the favor
“ Growing up, I saw my parents struggle to keep a roof over our heads and provide us with safety and a solid education. I’ve been blessed to have so many doors opened for me. I always ask: ‘How can I return the favor? How can I express gratitude for the blessings given to me?’”

Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ
“ I LaunchGood because it is the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW. From the earliest days of the Prophet SAW’s life, he was known as a mercy to mankind and a mercy to everyone who came across him. From bringing milk to the flock of his milk-mother, Halima, to filling the stomach of Abu Hurairah RA over and over again when he was hungry, the Prophet SAW was known to bring barakah and blessing wherever he went. The date palm tree that he used to lean on during the khutbah wept when it was no longer used by him in his sermons. He brought blessing and comfort wherever he stepped and he transformed the Companions into people who followed a similar character. I LaunchGood to continue the practice instilled in us by our Messenger in hopes that the Ummah can bring blessings to others as the Prophet SAW once did.”

To seek His pleasure
“ To seek His pleasure, and be a means of goodness by serving the ummah. As I grow older I think more about my parents' service to the community and I hope to tread that path too and do good wherever I can.

To continue dad’s legacy
“ Growing up in Pakistan, my dad (may Allah grant him Jannatul Firdous) would bring home anyone he met on his way that asked him for help. My mom would make a plate of whatever we had in the kitchen and my dad gave them extra money for their family to
take home.
We had quite a bit of hired help around the home (as is the norm in Pakistan). My dad made it a point to pay for all their childrens' education in order to break them out of the cycle of generational
poverty.
20 years later, all those families are much more financially well off with better jobs, Alhamdulillah.
By comparison, I am doing very little. This is the least I can do to continue my dad's legacy and make him proud ❤️”

"The money was never mine to begin with "
“ There was a time when my family wasn’t doing so well because my Dad had lost his job. With 5 kids to feed and a family to take care of Pakistan, that never stopped my Dad from giving. I saw the financial burden that my family was facing at a young age for years which made me very money-conscious but my Dad never once complained about spending his money for the sake of charity. He would always humbly tell me “This money was never mine to begin with,” and it helped me internalize that our Rizq is from Allah and that no matter how difficult things will get, Allah will continue to provide. There is an immense and humble impact on the giver and the receiver for any donation big or small. It is only right for me to continue to give because every penny truly counts and that is #WhyILaunchGood
