Summary

• Representing the vibrant Muslim community at Hayes (in London, UK)

• When prayers were suspended for the lockdown, our main source of income - donations from those coming to salah or jummah – stopped.

• Along with our regular operating cost, we still have £550k Qard-e-Hasanah loan to pay back in the coming weeks / months for the recently acquired Angel Muslim Centre

• We are struggling to find ways to reach out to all those who prayed at our masjid and therefore unable to raise funds by ourselves

Details​

Due to the current Covid Pandemic and the government lockdown advice, like all Mosques nationwide, we have had to remain closed. This closure has meant we face detrimental effects for both the Hayes and Angel Muslim centres. 

With no Friday congregational prayers taking place for the last 6 weeks and now the continued closure through Ramadan, fundraising for the Mosque has not been possible. We are struggling to find ways to reach out to all those who prayed here and who we were relying on to support us in raising funds to repay the Qard-E-Hasana from 2019. The money was borrowed for the recently acquired Angel Muslim Centre, with agreements in place to pay most of this back by the end of 2020. Without the continued support from our local community and the wider community during Ramadan, paying this Qard-E-Hasana while maintaining the regular operating costs of both centres will prove difficult.

This is why, we the members of the Islamic Education and Cultural Society turn to you, during this blessed month to support us in reaching our target so that we may repay the locals who supported us at our time of need while also being able to manage the centre so we may continue serving the community.

The Islamic Education and Cultural Society, Hayes was started in 1980, with a humble beginning to practice and promote universal values and teachings of the Qur’an. We welcome and serve the community of diverse ethnicities in and around Hayes. People from India, Pakistan, Somalia, the Middle East, Africa and European countries gather here for prayers, worship, education, seminars, celebrations and family events.

We offer courses in English, Urdu, Somali and Dari languages. Both children and adults learn the Qur’an and memorise it. The lessons in Arabic are complemented with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in English and other languages; regular Councillor and MP surgeries facilitate attendees and visitors. Hayes Muslim Centre continues to be a thriving place for peaceful, spiritual and social gatherings.

Madrasah Service

The Madrasah team strive to educate and prepare the younger generation through knowledge, wisdom, good morals and manners using effective methods of teaching and positive encouragement.

About 350 children learn to read the book of Allah at our Madrasah. The classes are provided for boys and girls aged 5-14 years. Alhamdullilah we also conduct Hifz-e-Quran classes at our Madrasah for those students who wish to memorize the Holy Qur’an. We are continuously trying to develop our services and syllabus in order to provide the best Islamic education possible for our community.
