On March 24, 2026, the Kilmore Islamic & Community Centre in Victoria, Australia, a heritage building being converted from a former church into a mosque, was deliberately set on fire. Thankfully, no one was inside at the time, but the building sustained significant damage. This is the first such attack in Kilmore and comes amid a worrying rise in Islamophobic incidents across Victoria and Australia, including threats, vandalism, and violence targeting Muslim individuals and places of worship.
