As salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

WE ARE SO CLOSE.

Just over a year ago, this Masjid was little more than foundations in the ground.

The foundations were laid just before Ramadan 2025.

By Ramadan 2026, by the permission of Allah, we were standing inside this very Masjid praying Taraweeh.

SubhanAllah.

Think about that.

In just one year, Allah took this project from foundations in the ground to believers standing together in salah.

But we have not finished yet.

And behind this extraordinary journey is a community that has refused to give up.

THE CYCLE4SLIC STORY

The Cycle4SLIC rides have become the most successful fundraising campaign in South Lakes Islamic Centre's history.

It began in 2021.

Just 12 riders set out with what seemed like an ambitious target of £10,000.

They raised an astonishing £100,934.

At that time, there was no Masjid.

The local Muslim community was praying on an empty field and the funds raised helped pay for the planning, surveys and essential work needed to turn a dream into something real.

Then, in 2025, the cyclists returned.

This time, as construction was underway, they raised another remarkable £98,102, helping to keep the building work moving.

And now, in 2026, they are riding once again.

So far, 481 supporters have helped raise £31,070, but the riders are aiming for £100,000 and beyond to help finish the Masjid's interior, clear essential debt and support its running costs as the doors prepare to open permanently.

THIS IS THE FINAL PUSH.

The structure is there.

The Masjid is standing.

Taraweeh has already been prayed inside it.

Now we need to complete the internal works so that, bi idhnillah, its doors can open permanently within weeks.

And this is where you come in.

Allah says:

“Who is it that will give Allah a goodly loan, so He may multiply it for him many times over?”

Surah Al Baqarah, 2:245

And Allah says:

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed that grows seven ears; in every ear are a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills.”

Surah Al Baqarah, 2:261

And the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”

Bukhari and Muslim

Imagine being part of this.

Imagine salah being prayed here for decades to come.

Imagine Ramadan after Ramadan.

Jumuah after Jumuah.

State of the internals currently

Final Push: Finish it. Free it. Fund it.

South Lakes Islamic Centre has reached a critical stage in the construction of the first Masjid in the South Lake District.

The building is standing, the work is progressing, and the vision is becoming a reality. However, we now urgently need to raise £135,000 to pay our contracted construction team for work that has been completed and committed.

This payment is imminent.

Any delay could leave us unable to meet our contractual obligations, disrupt the construction programme, and result in financial penalties and additional costs. We do not want to delay payment to those who have worked hard to build the Masjid, and we cannot afford for valuable donations to be lost through avoidable fines.

We need your help now.

Every donation will help us honour our commitments, keep construction moving, and bring the Masjid closer to opening its doors.

Pavement works have been completed,  highway works are done, foundation completed within Ramadan 2025⏳ and  the steel works up!!! The floors are in and the building is water tight within a year!! We are at risk of delaying works and delaying occupying the Masjid if the internals are not complete.. Please help us keep the momentum going. Delays will not only disrupt the construction timeline but will also drive costs higher. We had already needed to take things out of initial pack due to lack of funding earlier. We urgently need your help to ensure the work continues smoothly! ⏳

The Muslim community in the South Lake District is growing, yet the closest established masjid is 50 miles away in Lancaster. Though Alhamdulillaah there is now one in Kendal, this is still 30 miles away from us! Our children have no place to build their Islamic identity through a masjid or madrasa. We have hopes that this will preserve their Imaan. Our elders don’t even have basic janaza facilities. This masjid will be a lifeline for generations to come in sha Allaah. ⏳
