Our communities will be forever shocked by the murder of Nariman Abdul Alghafour, whose body was found in the morning of March 5, 2024. Her tragic death is a painful reminder of where and how our system fails vulnerable women regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds.
As the Muslim community of Newfoundland and Labrador gathered to lay her to rest on a cold afternoon with tears and prayers, we made a promise. We will try everything in our means to honor her memory and care for her five children who no longer have any parent to look after them.
It is with this devotion that the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL) is setting up a trust fund to support Nariman's children, aged 6 to 13, as they move forward in their life's journeys.
We invite all members of our communities, Muslim or non-Muslim, to ease and brighten their path. Please help as much as you can through your donations to this trust fund.
