Welcome Home has always been a “for the community, by the community” project and together we hope we can continue that legacy.

In 2024, you supported 164 families throughout the year. We hope to double this number in 2025, with your help! 

This year Welcome Home worked on creating more consistent opportunities. Whether those opportunities were for volunteering, building committees, scheduling families to visit the warehouse or weekly operations - there was much to be done!

Through the help of notable volunteers and the broader Charlotte community, we were able to embrace and implement consistency in our day to day endeavors.

Your donations will support the following (but not limited to): 

• Rent and utilities cost for the warehouse
• Financial assistance (Zakat) to families in need (3-6 months)
• Part-time staff who will be on-site for donation intake
• Programs in house
  • Family Warehouse Visit - families sign up with our website and select an appointment to shop in the warehouse. Everything in the warehouse is for free. 
  • Ramadan Iftar
  • Qurbani Drive (Eid-al-adha)
  • Food Pantry, the food pantry consists of the following items:
    • Rice
    • Flour
    • Sugar
    • Dates
    • Lentils
    • Oil

What's new at Welcome Home? 

We wanted to expand our food and necessity services to the community. With your monetary help, we were able to add the following to our existing pantries and closets: 

• New food item 
  • Adding meat to our food pantry

• New program - Necessity Closet
  • The closet includes the following:
    • Toothpaste
    • Tooth brush
    • Bar soap
    • Liquid dish soap
    • Women sanitary pads
    • Deodorant

What we hope to bring in 2025 

• New (restarting) annual event - Dental Clinic
  • Started in 2019, the annual event was an effort to bring local dentists in the Charlotte area together to provide basic cleaning and other dentistry needs to the community. This helped our local dentists identify which families and individuals were in dire need of dental care. Every participant received a free-dental consultation and dental-care kit bag.
• New Hired Help: Driver - our biggest struggle is trying to find transportation for big items (such as couches and tables). We are hoping to hire help to assist with pickups and deliveries twice a month for families.

This is a completely donation run facility and nonprofit. We rely on donors like you to help continue this work! All of what we do is 100% volunteer sustained and based. We intend to create a community resource that can live beyond our time as well as help our refugee and community-in-need with basic needs and accessibility to resources available.
