What Is Markaz Al-Itqan 

​Markaz Al-Itqan is an educational center in South Minneapolis established in 2017. Since then, our center has provided our youth with a place to learn the Quran, Arabic, and Islamic studies.

​What Makes Markaz Al-Itqan Special?

​Our Markaz is one of few in North America that teaches the ten modes of recitation (Al-Qira'at Al-‘Ashr). Upon finishing, students receive a certificate Of narration from their teacher back to the prophet (Sanad Mutasil). Students memorize a 1,200 line poem on Arabic grammar (Alfiyyah Ibn Malik), which is regarded as the highest level of Arabic grammar. Our students' perfection in these sciences makes them from few that have reached this level in North America. Along with building the characters and manners of a carrier of the Quran.

​Markaz Al-Itqan Needs your Help!

​We are currently renting space within a building. Not only is the area not adequate in size, but the rent is also very high. There is not sufficient room for our 300+ students. At times, a room is filled with students' desks with no space to walk in between them. During Salah time, we cannot fit a fourth of the students in our largest room. 

​Our New Building 

​With the permission of Allah, we've signed the papers on a 47,000 sq. ft building. The building houses a church and a Muslim charter school on one side.The church side will become the Masjid and Markaz.  It includes an auditorium that seats upwards of 800 people to be used for Quran competitions, lectures, graduations, community events, and more. There is also a gymnasium for our youth to play sports. Not to disclude the adequate room for a masjid area to serve the community with the five daily salawat and more. Our Markaz will also have abundant space with many classrooms to provide for our students and staff. 

​Our Goal's

• Within the next six months, we must complete the 1.1 million dollar downpayment, with 600k down, what remains is a 500k. With the charter school, auditorium, and Markaz tuition. The masjid will have a stable income to sustain itself. Therefore we need your help in securing this fantastic building for our community. 

Our three main goals once established are:

1) Permanently establishing an educational wing that continues to teach the Quran, Arabic, and Islamic studies to all ages and a high level. 

2) Creating a masjid that serves the community and families of the area. It'll also be used as space for the city's youth to call a second home. 

3) Creating a safe space for youth lead Activities. We believe the masajid shouldn't just be to pray and leave. Instead, it should be a community center for the youth to congregate and build camaraderie and seek knowledge while also creating a barrier against many of our youth's problems today.

4) Become a beacon in sharing the beautiful religion of Islam with our Non-Muslim neighbors.

Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”
