Providing FDA-certified face masks and KN95-FFP2 respirators to healthcare professionals on the frontlines in the United States.

Update: Monday, April 13

The second shipment from China arrived this morning after waiting 19 days for the delay in air freight and it being held at customs. A total of 48 boxes filled with 3,000 Respirator masks were delivered to our HQ in Houston, Texas. Each box was wiped down with disinfecting wipes and placed in shipping boxes alongside proper documentation - to be shipped off to our various locations across the country the same day they entered the U.S.

Update: Friday, April 10

The first shipment from China arrived this morning after waiting 16 days for the delay in air freight and it being held at customs. A total of 200 boxes filled with 10,000 surgical masks were delivered to our HQ in Houston, Texas. Each box was wiped down with disinfecting wipes and placed in shipping boxes alongside the FDA certificates, waivers, and other documents, and shipped off to our various locations across the country the same day they entered the country.

The Vision:

To provide healthcare professionals with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to safeguard themselves from infection and to safely, securely, and efficiently care for their patients.

Why It Matters:

The global demand for PPE has created a severe shortage across the world. As the U.S. now leads the world in confirmed novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, our frontline healthcare workers are at a greater risk than ever before. Instructed to re-use PPE with masks and other supplies dwindling, public health experts are now balancing the need to keep healthcare workers on the frontlines against the need to protect medical staff from becoming patients themselves. Based on World Health Organization modeling, an estimated 89 million medical masks are required for the COVID-19 response each month. We can all play a part - if we can protect one healthcare worker from becoming infected, and slow the spread, we consider the campaign successful.

Let us come together to protect the hearts of those behind the masks that so selflessly risk their lives everyday.

The Project:

Donating surgical disposable face masks and KN95 respirators directly to 9 different regions around the country (Houston, Dallas, Long Beach, Irvine, Oakland, Sacramento, Portland, Trenton, and Philadelphia). The 9 different regions were selected as each shipment could be personally hand-delivered by our very own volunteer network who serve on the frontlines.

*Disclaimer: no mask is considered 100% effective against the virus. We are simply donating masks and not distributors of a certain product. We are not subject to be held for any liability and users wear all protective equipment at their own risk.

FDA Emergency Use Authorization Policy for Respirators

CDC Guidelines for use of KN95-FFP2 during Coronavirus pandemic

Cost:

Surgical/Medical Disposable:
- $0.50 per mask - min. 2,000 units (includes shipping - 50 units/box)

KN95-FFP2 Respirators:

$2.00 per mask - min. 2,000 units (includes shipping - 10 units/box)

What affects the cost?

  • With a decrease in flight capacity globally, air freight has become increasingly more expensive than usual. Shipping costs rise.
  • The cost per mask decreases with the increase in number of units ordered. Given the demand on face masks around the world, securing an appropriate price is important. We were given a 5% discount on each mask per our request as a non-profit.

What is the difference: KN95 vs. N95?

The KN95 is a code used in China for its equivalent in the USA, the N95. There are different levels of quality to each respirator mask. The respirator masks we are donating have a 95% effective rate, which means that they block 95% of particles.  Note: No mask can guarantee 100% protection against the Coronavirus.

Contingency Plan(s):

  • If supply arrives to Houston and the U.S. is on a national quarantine and FedEx has shut down its shipping routes, we will distribute all PPE to the Texas Medical Center (the largest healthcare center in America) located in Houston, personally. If logistically possible, we will transport them to Dallas via car.
  • If supply does not arrive to Houston due to an embargo, grounding of flights, natural disaster etc, we will await the delay and/or request a full refund from the manufacturer and their trade assurance agreement.
  • Manufacturer Post-Shipment Assurance: Your actual payment will be fully covered. If the quality of the products does not match the standards set in your contract or the supplier did not ship the goods on time, you will be eligible for a refund within 30 days of delivery.
