GAMA exists to change that.

GAMA builds space for Muslim artists to gather, grow, and create with honesty. Through exhibitions, workshops, mentorship, performances, and community events, GAMA helps Muslim artists express the truth of who we are in all our depth, beauty, and complexity.

Projects We’ve Done

Our annual retreat is our staple program. A group of Muslim artists from multiple disciplines are curated for a 3 day retreat to share work, workshop ideas, learn new skills and creatively vibe. This important gathering often results in new artist collaborations, new ideas, and cultural production that impacts the larger community.

Path to Spirituality is an immersive experience where art and reflection meet. Together, we cultivate heart space, awaken the senses, and move intentionally from stillness into expression. The evening includes prayer, a thoughtfully prepared meal, and a mindful painting workshop. 

Khamsa, the Arabic word for “five,” was a multimedia art project showcasing Black, Muslim, Immigrant, and Refugee visual artists and musicians traversing the five stages of grief. The project consisted of a 7 week art gallery show, musical performances, a companion podcast and a digital album.

The Mosquers Open Jam is an improvised, open-format platform where Muslim artists share stories and experiment across disciplines in real time. Open to creatives of all levels, it fosters collaboration, lowers barriers to participation, and creates space for spontaneous expression.

Presented in collaboration with the Mosquers Film Festival and Lost Poet Studios, the Open Jam has also led to recorded performances and original releases, capturing the energy and creativity of the live experience.
