Help us bring to screen the true story of an eighty-three-year-old man walking the 450 km Hijrah in his late wife’s name. Filming begins this February.

What promise would you walk a lifetime to keep?

At eighty-three, David Noble is that kind of promise. His wife Sandi has returned to her Lord, and the love he holds for her still moves through his days. Both David and Sandi embraced Islam later in life. They found guidance, prayer, and a sense of home. When she passed, the house grew still, yet the love and devotion they shared did not fade.

David is now preparing to walk the full Hijrah route in her name. Four hundred fifty kilometers along the path the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ once walked from Mecca to Madina. This is not a reenactment. Not symbolism. It is an old man with real faith rising for one final act of devotion.

This documentary is being produced by a seasoned team whose work has earned multiple Emmy Awards, Oscar nominations, and Grammy nominations.

David Noble visits the grave of his late wife Sandi, for whom he intends to dedicate his Hijrah Walk.
David poses with a picture of Islamic Scholar, Habib Ali Jifri, who facilitated his and Sandy's conversion to Islam.

In Her Name follows the true journey of David Noble, stepfather of award-winning filmmaker Mustafa Davis, who has decided to trace the Prophetic pilgrimage.

Their story began years earlier, when David and Sandra met Habib Ali al-Jifri, an esteemed spiritual guide, whose words and prayers opened the door for both of them to embrace Islam.

Sandi was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and kidney failure. She spent up to fifteen hours a day on dialysis. And over the years she often spoke of Habib Ali, whom she called her “special saint.” Near the end, she asked to hear his voice again.

When he called, he told her she was loved by God, had nothing to fear, and that he loved her.

She passed soon after. She was buried in a small Muslim cemetery, as prayers for her came from people she’d never met from across the world..

After Sandra’s passing, David continues to honour her faith and longing for the Kaaba, reading to her at her grave and carrying forward the hope she once held: to stand before the Sacred House and greet the Prophet ﷺ.

Now, at eighty-three years old, after surviving a quadruple bypass, David is preparing to fulfil that promise himself — walking in her name, from the House she longed to circle toward the Prophet ﷺ she longed to meet.

His decision to walk the Hijrah is not an act of grief, nor a quest for recognition. It is the fulfilment of a promise, a continuation of a bond that even death could not bring to a close. This is the ultimate act of love and devotion.

Why This Film Matters

The Hijrah marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar—the moment the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ left everything familiar to walk toward God. Within that journey lies the pattern of every believer’s path: leaving what we love, only to find it again in Him.

David’s story reminds us that faith can awaken at any age and in any heart. His walk is a reminder that the path to God is open to anyone willing to take a single, sincere step.

By supporting this film, you are helping to create a cinematic piece that will reach people far beyond the Muslim community — sharing the message of Islam through sincerity, love and devotion.

David’s story is a testament to the enduring impact of love, faith and devotion. Help us bring David’s inspirational story to the world.

Together, we’re uniting authentic scholarship, art, and culture to preserve one of Islam’s greatest legacies.

In the Director’s Words

David is my stepfather. Sandi was my mother. I was there when they met Habib Ali in 2002, when they converted five years later, and when she returned to her Lord on May 12, 2024.

Now David wants to walk the Prophet's path from Mecca to Madina—for her, because of her.  He's eighty-three and knows he may not finish. But he's going anyway. He told me that he has to do this because “Habib Ali told your mother that she was loved by Allah and had nothing to fear, but he didn’t say the same to me.  So if I want to be with her again in the next life… I have to earn it.”

What we’re documenting is straightforward: a man attempting to prove his love to God through action. Not metaphorically. Literally. Walking, or riding when he can't walk, because he believes it brings him closer to reuniting with his wife.

People might watch this and see a story about conversion or pilgrimage or grief. I see my stepfather refusing to let death be the end of his marriage.
