Those who know Imam Abdul-Khabir know about his most recent misfortune, the tragic loss of his beloved son, Mynyamani Stevenson. Mynyamani had just taken his shahadah less than a year ago and was laid to rest on August 6th, 2023 due to senseless violence. In light of this tragedy, we would like to send Imam Abdul-Khabir on Umrah December 19-30 of this year, if Allaah wills. We know Imam Abdul-Khabir to be a strong, highly resilient and firm believer in Allaah. However, we are all in need of healing after undergoing such a tragic loss. We pray that this serve the dual purpose of being emotionally healing and spiritually uplifting for him, by Allaah's permission. May Allaah make him His noble guest.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was reported to have said that, “The best of you is he who is the most beneficial to the people. And from the best of deeds is to enter happiness into the heart of a believer.” There is no doubt in our minds that Imam abdul-Khabir is a believer in Allaah and His Messenger. Through this campaign, we seek to please Allaah by entering happiness into his heart and SOUL. When I called him to check up on him, his first response was a verse from the Quran-- “Surely with hardship comes ease." When I told the other reason I was calling (sending him to umrah), I could hear and feel the huge smile on his face. It was also apparent in his voice. He was ecstatic! May Allaah grant him many more eases and moments of ecstasy and may you all be a means to that.

How Will the Funds Be Spent?

(the below numbers, with the exception of the umrah package, are rounded up estimates based on current rates. rates may change as we get closer to the departure date.) 

1. $3,750 - 5-star Umrah Package including breakfast everyday + Ihram (minus domestic flight)
2. $400 - Domestic flight from California to JFK
3. $200 - 1 night hotel stay in NYC (going)
4. $200 - 1 night hotel stay in NYC (returning)
5. Optional - $450 to visit Egypt on the way back for 2 days, flight + accommodation included (not a necessity)

If anyone would like to contribute towards non-breakfast meals and gifts for his loved ones, you are more than welcome to do so. May Allaah reward you in advance.

Yes, 100%! This effort is being organized by Ashir Kirk through Measured Tones Institute of Quran which is a registered 501c3 (EIN: 47-5682560). This campaign was approved by Imam Abdul-Khabir and Amir Mustafa Ahmadu Baba, National Amir of the Jamaat of the Shehu. Feel free to contact both of them for further verification. 100% of all funds collected will be used for the Umrah trip and anything related to it. Any extra funds will be given to Imam Abdul-Khabir and Measured Tones Institute of Quran will keep none of it. Our reward lies with Allaah, and what a superior reward that is!
