A national emergency support campaign on behalf of mosques in poor communities across USA - Organized by North American Islamic Trust, Inc.

My Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi here with an appeal.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW said, "(O people!) Save yourselves from the Fire even if it is with half a date (given in charity)". [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

The last 10 days and nights of immense power are upon us. This time will not come back until the next year. Who knows if we are alive then. Our deeds will come to a stop except sadaqah-e-Jaariyah. While we're given the opportunity by Allah to real more than a 1000 times reward during the last 1/3 of Ramadan, we should make every effort to take advantage of it.

I personally urge you to:

GIVE as if it is your LAST CHANCE.

PRAY as if it is your LAST PRAYER.

Inner-city Mosques are in URGENT NEED. YOUR HELP IS INTEGRAL.

"The situation [is] so dire...they're defaulting on bills, rent not being paid ... 10 mosques applied [for grant] and we could [help] only 1 in Bronx, said Islamic Leadership Council of New York" - The Guardian reports.

PLEASE HELP.

Schedule your donation on one of the odd nights and become one of those whom Allah loves

I PERSONALLY THANK ALL those who have already donated so far. And I URGE all my friends, family and the community to step forward and donate at least $50 or any amount you can to Land in Jannah campaign which is organized Fee Sabeelillah to solely for rural and inner-city masajid with limited resources to raise funds for themselves.

Should we not do our part to save these masajid?

I pray that Allah reward you and your family immensely for your donation as well as Ibadah in this blessed month.

April 14, 2021:

The Guardian reports "The building facade is deteriorating. The heating system is a fire hazard. When it rains outside, it also rains inside – a plastic container near the prayer area collects water. Masjid An-Noor, a mosque serving the Muslim community of Bridgeport, Connecticut, for over 30 years, is barely holding on – and it is part of a trend of mosques across America facing dire financial problems during the Covid-19 pandemic."

We have a lot of children in the community and we want to teach them our religion, ... [and help] “people in need, people who don’t have a job. When a family member passes, we help them to get them buried in the proper way."

Read full report on how mosques in YOUR area might be struggling in a similar way.

If mosques are closed, how will we teach our children our religion, do our funerals?

How NAIT has helped so far?

NAIT already distributed $90,000 with its own humble resources to 30 at-risk mosques in 2020

But the need is so dire that we, as community leaders, have to step up again in 2021 by raising additional $50,000 to help 20 masajid based on need.

They serve people who often don't have the disposable incomes to support their own masjid.

This 2021 campaign is also NOT for NAIT; it is on behalf of needy masajid who lack resources to raise funds for themselves. (See detailed disclaimer below)

100% of your donations will go to needy masajid. Donations are tax deductible but NOT zakat eligible. (The mosques that receive funds may not have zakat eligible programming.)

All costs of this campaign and donation distribution are and will be borne by NAIT.

Four (4) Smart Watch winners will be chosen through raffle of the largest donors.

Together InshaAllah, we will not let any masjid close its doors because of lack of funds.

Share this campaign using hashtags #LandInJannah #RamadanChallenge to maximize our collective impact.

So we ask you to join our hands and give a TAX DEDUCTIBLE gift of Hope and Spiritual Support to your brothers and sisters in Islam.

The more you give, the bigger the Land in Jannah you reserve with 1000+  times the reward in Ramadan, InshaAllah.

PLUS, WIN 4 Samsung Smart Watches through raffle. It can't get better than that. See details below.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER!

NAIT is running this campaign "Fee Sabeelillah. Community knows that NAIT doesn't raise funds for itself or for others and this campaign is also NOT for NAIT. But as community leaders, we feel the responsibility to step up in such unprecedented times to help these mosques for the health and well being of the Muslim community - especially the minorities in the poorest of areas.

JazakAllah Khairan in advance. May Allah reward you immensely for your donation. If you have any questions, reach out to us through the info below.

NAIT'S MISSION:

NAIT is a national 501(C)3 nonprofit organization established in 1973 to serve as a national Waqf - reviving the Prophet's Sunnah - protecting properties of mosques & Islamic schools and help build the American Muslims. Later, addressing the needs of the community, it started initiatives to help the Muslim community gain financial sustainability such as:

ICCF that pools and invests Muslims' financial assets for communal benefit,

Halal stocks through Iman Fund to help families grow financially;

a Stock Donation Liaison Program to help masajid raise more sustainable funds, and

a Dispute Resolution Program to help mitigate problems they face while serving.

NAIT's Story:

Even though Muslims have been immigrating to the United States since the founding of the nation, many people and communities ultimately lost or abandoned their Islamic heritage due to social, and political reasons. Indeed, many indigenous masajid and centers were lost or forgotten. To prevent this in the future, the organizers believed that creating a waqf or general trust to safeguard the properties of masajid and Islamic centers would be vital for the growth and maintenance of the American Muslim community. Thus, NAIT holds a unique status among other  national Muslim non-for-profit organizations.

NAIT’s WAQF PROGRAM is a free service to the community. It is a variant of the conventional Trust/Endowment program, because of two important aspects of waqf, i.e. the perpetual status of the waqf properties and the unalterable sanctity of the will of the donor. Even the donor cannot alter his/her intent at a later time. Each masjid or Islamic center is independently organized, managed and controlled and NAIT does not interfere with its operations.

NAIT serves as the record owner of the property in the capacity of a trustee for the local community. While, the decision-making body of a non-profit corporation can dispose of, or encumber communal property, NAIT management cannot do so to waqf properties.

BRIEF ON HOW NAIT'S WAQF WORKS?

Since 1973, Muslim communities have entrusted as Waqf, titles of properties in 42 States to NAIT. More are added every year.

Waqf properties and the value of these properties are Restricted Assets as Waqf on a perpetual basis, to serve the Islamic objectives prescribed at inception.

Neither the donor, nor the beneficiary, not even NAIT, can encumber or unilaterally dispose of these Waqf communal properties.

Perpetual status of the Waqf properties and the unalterable sanctity of the will of the donor are hallmark of NAIT’s Waqf program.

A waqf property can be replaced with another one of the same use and equal benefit to the beneficiary community, to the fullest extent feasible. It is not permissible, for example, to apply sale proceeds of a deserted and unusable masjid to a cemetery, retirement/assisted living, or other facilities even though those are to serve Muslims of the same locality.
