At Miry’s List, we believe that welcoming newcomers is not just an act of kindness, it’s a commitment to building a stronger, more connected community. Your past support has played a vital role in ensuring that resettling families have the resources they need as they settle into their new homes. 

Right now, we are facing a dramatic shift in the landscape of resources available to resettling families in the U.S. The Federal government has divested from the refugee resettlement program, honoring just one remaining resettlement pathway for refugees: the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), for individuals and families who supported the U.S. military in Afghanistan. For these Afghan allies and their families who do arrive, they’ll be facing a significantly downsized government resettlement system, which will leave many without essential support upon arrival, including the assignment of government case workers and welcome cash to cover lease deposits and other critical essentials. 

Miry’s List and our community-based partners nationally have been here before. We saw this in 2017 and we know precisely how to rise to the occasion to fill these gaps. While Miry’s List does not rely on government funding, the lack of support directly affects our families and partners; thus the demand on our services is steadily increasing. We will continue to provide families ongoing support and unwavering assistance to as many refugee families as we can - but we need your support to meet the growing demand through private charitable contributions to the Miry’s List Emergency Fund. 

Ramadan is an especially important time for many of the families in our program, making this support even more meaningful. We are rallying our community to meet these urgent needs, and we invite your family to be part of this effort. Together, we can stand beside new arrival families, showing up with the support they need- today, tomorrow, and always.

ABOUT THIS FUND
The Miry’s List Emergency Fund is a critical initiative designed to address the urgent needs of newly arrived refugee families that will allow us to meet families essential household needs and direct cash assistance. Funds will be used to purchase items to make new arrival family's homes functional and comfortable for their family, including: Bedding, Bed Frames, Pillows, Cribs, Clothing, Shoes, Hygiene Products, Cleaning & Laundry Products, Baby & Childcare Supplies, Kitchen Supplies, Bathroom & Household Supplies, and School Supplies. We are currently seeking this support for the active 257 families in our program and an additional 350 families we expect to welcome into our program for FY25-26 starting in April.
