MYH provides emotional support & signposting on issues from anxiety to addiction, every day of the year. Donate to keep our free & confidential service running

At Muslim Youth Helpline we see the consequences of young people putting their mental health on the back-burner. This Eid, let's try and raise awareness of how you can make your mental health a priority, making you more resilient and able to work better, be more spiritually connected, and live better.

Don’t sacrifice your mental health this Eid.

We’ll use the donations from this campaign to run the helpline service, making sure that those in emotional distress have someone to talk to when they need it the most. We’ll also use it to fund our upcoming student campaign, reaching 10,000 students over one month as we work with ISOCs, MSCs, Mental Health Societies, Colleges, Community Centres and Mosques, to ensure that our youth know how to recognise the signs of mental ill health like anxiety, depression and suicidal feelings, how to deal with them in a healthy way, and most importantly, how to prevent these issues happening in the first place.

WHO ARE WE?

Muslim Youth Helpline is a free, confidential and non-judgemental service, available nationally via the telephone, email and web chat. The service provides emotional support and signposting on issues from anxiety to pornography addiction, every day of the year. MYH also conducts training and research on youth mental health issues.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Support those in emotional distress
Every day we receive calls from youth who are depressed, anxious, and suffering suicidal thoughts. Your support will help save lives through our helpline 365 days a year.

We receive calls from clients like Ahmed^, who called us because he lost his mother to cancer, and was finding it hard to cope. Or like Fatema* who was being physically abused by Islamophobic bullies at school but felt she couldn’t tell anyone. Or Maryam*, who had been sexually abused as a child and realised her daughter may be going through the same thing.

Mental health education
Support workshops with community groups, so that we can help Imams, teachers, and other helplines, understand young Muslims better.

Peer to peer counselling
Young people are not confident when it comes to supporting their friends and family. Your support enables us to teach counselling skills so that youth are supported.

TESTIMONIALS

“Muslim Youth Helpline is unique and much needed. Young Muslims need an organisation like this to go to confidentially with their concerns, which can often be culturally specific and need to be heard by people with empathy and the experience of the MYH staff. I support their work in helping young people resolve their problems” - Riz Ahmed (Emmy award-winning actor, rapper & activist)

"It’s time British Muslim communities come together to support such charities. Muslim Youth Helpline is doing bold, innovative and invaluable work to help and protect some of our most vulnerable young people. Long may it continue!” - Mehdi Hasan (Journalist, broadcaster & author)

“It can be difficult for young people to reconcile multiple religious, cultural and national identities, with profound implications for development at an important time in their lives. The Muslim Youth Helpline understands this, and provides an extremely important service, as a trusted listener, advisor and supporter of young British Muslims These are challenges I experienced myself in South London. Had the Muslim Youth Helpline been around way back then, I would have welcomed the support and opportunities it provides.” - Sadiq Khan (Mayor of London)

Eid Mubarak!

“Eid is a time to spend with your family. There are 30 or 40 of us, and a real community spirit. When I gave up a couple of hours of my Eid to be on the Helpline, I was thinking about people who don’t have that. I want them to feel they are not alone, so they have somewhere they can call.” - MYH Helpline Officer

Eid Mubarak! This Eid we’ll all be commemorating the sacrifice Abraham made thousands of years ago. While this is a joyous occasion for many, at Muslim Youth Helpline we hear the stories of those who cannot celebrate, or even find Eid more painful than other days. For our team on the Helpline, they sacrifice their time on Eid to support those in need. They take time away from their own celebrations with family and friends, and spend time at the office, taking calls, web chats and emails from our clients.
