Back in 2018, the idea of #PledgeYourLunch was thought up as an initiative to share our blessings with the needy. Rethinking the use of our lunch spendings that we generally will not be using during the month of Ramadan. While fasting itself is an ibadah, #PledgeYourLunch serves as an opportunity for us to reap the rewards of Ramadan even further without having to spend over our monthly budget!

This year, #PledgeYourLunch 2021, will be the 4th installment of our campaign. We are delighted to be working with UNHCR, the global UN agency working to protect and advocate for refugees around the world.

Within the 30 days of Ramadan, we aim to raise USD 10,000 in aid of UNHCR’s humanitarian efforts for forcibly displaced people. Together with your help, we can make their Ramadan a little better. Brightening Lives. A meal at a time.

Our Beneficiaries

This Ramadan, HalalTrip and CrescentRating are working closely with UNHCR for the #PledgeYourLunch 2021 campaign. UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people.

By participating in this year’s #PledgeYourLunch campaign, you will be helping refugees and displaced families such as:

Humaira

Like many other Rohingya refugees, Humaira was forced to flee Myanmar after the loss of a parent, being separated from her family, and losing her home. Now taking shelter in the refugee camps of Bangladesh, Humaira fights for survival, seeking stability for her younger sisters and herself.

With your contribution, you can help vulnerable refugees further impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic just like Humaira by providing them shelter, food, clean water, and medicine.

Husain

Husain is a man with a big heart. He first came to Jordan in hopes of being able to afford his daughter’s surgery. Since then, Husain, his wife, and his three children have been living alongside five orphan children whom they have graciously taken into their home.

With your help, you can aid in relieving the strains of refugee households, helping them with the much-needed necessities to live and survive. A portion of the proceeds from this campaign will be channeled towards UNHCR’s Monthly Cash Assistance Program, a program that ensures families such as Husain’s continue to be provided for, especially in these trying times.

Nour Begum

Nour Begum and her children came to Bangladesh to seek refuge from the violence faced by the Rohingya. To this very day, Nour is still unaware of what happened to her missing husband. Displaced in a foreign land, Nour and her family maintain a strong will and perseverance in their daily life at the refugee camps, in hopes of seeing a time of peace and better days ahead.

With your help, you can make their dreams of peace and better days a reality for displaced families and refugees like Nour’s.

Fattoum

Widowed and displaced, Fattoum is a Yemeni mother who has dedicated herself to caring for her four daughters. On top of the struggles every mother goes through, she and her family also have to bear the challenges of being displaced.

With your contribution, you can help parents just like Fattoum raise their children in a better environment. UNHCR helps families just like Fattoum’s, with shelter, food, water, and medicine.
