Honour victims of the Québec mosque shooting

In memory of the victims of the attack on january 29, 2017 in the Centre Islamique du Québec, we are building 2 Wells in Guinée 🇬🇳. One in Labé, the birthplace of Mamadou Tanou Barry, husband and father, one in Mamou, the birthplace of Ibrahima Barry, husband and father. These men were among the six Victims of a most hateful crime that took them from their families and 17 children left fatherless.

Upon learning of Mamadou Tanou Barry’s dream to build a sustainable water source in his birthplace, we knew we had to fulfill this dream in his honour and to honour these families. We formed a nonprofit organization and have raised 16,000$ on another platform but it isn’t enough for both wells. Please help us to complete Mamadou’s dream that we may draw life saving water from the earth to serve these villages. Each well will serve almost a thousand people including their parents and will be accessible and free to these communities.

A little story of a memorial stone

"From the earth we can extract life"
A short history of the journey of the commemorative plaque. It is a generous gift made of Quebec graystone, engraved by master engravers Michel and Michel-Jean Roberge, to be installed on the well of the birthplace of Mamadou Tanou Barry. Before taking the trip to Guinea, the plaque  visited his home in Quebec, his children and beloved  widow. Unpacking the box the children's hands went straight to the name of their father, Mamadou Tanou Barry, who died in the Islamic Center of Quebec. In the coming days the plaque will travel to his sister who will bring it to Labé to be affixed on the well that would supply clean water to the village of a thousand souls. The well will now bear the name of Mamadou Tanou.
