| Dear Friend, Assalamu’alaikum. Can you imagine that this beautiful month is here again? From all of us here at American Muslim Health Professionals, I would like to wish you and yours 4 weeks of blessings, 30 days of clemency, and 720 hours of enlightenment. I know that over the next 4 weeks, many organizations and charities will reach out to you to support their important work. Some may have already. While this can feel daunting at times, it is in fact born out of the remarkably generous nature of the Muslim community in America. A nature founded on the Quran’s routine counsel to give to those less fortunate than ourselves. As Allah says in the Quran, “Those who in charity spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve” (2:274). Our objective this Ramadan is simple. While we may not be able to change the world in 1 month, we hope to change the world for as many of our community’s disadvantaged people as possible and help connect our community with opportunities to improve our health and wellness, and that of all Americans. We are proud of our Zakat Policy, which guarantees that every single penny of any donation you mark as zakat will go directly to your program of choice. I hope that this Ramadan, you choose AMHP as your Muslim charity of choice. During this first week of Ramadan, I encourage you to support our Advocacy and Advancing Access to Care program. In 2017, our incredible advocacy helped stop Senate attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Millions of Americans were able to keep their health coverage. Our goal is to build our capacity to have the impact our community deserves and the voice we need. Our continued advocacy is crucial to improving the health and wellness of all.
