David Groner Foundation Project for Peace 

My sister and I recieved a grant of $10,000 for our grassroots project Build Playgrounds Not Walls to build a playground. The grant only covers some of the playground costs. A Playground All Children Can Enjoy

The grant recieved will cover the costs for the hospital to rebuild their playground space because they are currently underfunded. The money we are raising will be used to purchase all-inclusive equipment.

What are the benefits of an accessible playground?

• For children with mobility challenges: accessible play areas let them play and be children, just like everyone else. 
• For children who don't have these challenges: they learn to interact with children with different backgrounds and abilities. 
• Children aren't the only ones that need to be accomodated, parents and adults will also benefit!

This initiave ensures that all people will be able to enjoy the play space. 

​We hope that this playground will improve physical therapy activities that are currently practiced in the hospital.

This initiative will also directly benefit the pediatric inpatient center where children are away from home and miss out on their childhood as they spend their time at the hospital receiving various treatments.

Acknowledgements

We are currently working with Fatimah Awad, a Divisional Director of Health and Wellness for SLC Global who oversees 20 Clinical Operations sites across Washington, Oregon, Arizona and California. For the past three years, she has organized medical and humanitarian missions to the Middle East, and she recently founded her own nonprofit, United in Humanity. 

We are also parternered with Playgrounds for Palestine, a nonprofit charity that raises money for playgrounds for children living in areas of need.
