Building A Strong Ummah

The Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC) is launching an initiative to build a strong diverse community based upon the teachings of the sunnah and Quran. Our goal this year, starting in Muharram (September 21, 2017), is to host at least 12 monthly family events that range from Barbecues to Snow Days in the Park to Ice Skating to much more. During these blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah, we're asking you to give what you can to make this possible. Every donation allows us to expand these events, bond as a community, and above all, build a strong unified Ummah. 

The ISBCC Community: Who Are We?

The ISBCC is a diverse Masjid and Cultural Center based in Boston, Massachusetts. Our mission is Living Prophetically. One of the core principles of Living Prophetically as taught by our Senior Imam Shaykh Yasir Fahmy is to develop intimate brotherhood and sisterhood bonds (Mu'akha) across race, class, and ethnic lines. Presently, the ISBCC serves over 64 nationalities with 1500 people regularly attending Jummuah. We hope to build strong bonds amongst one another to become a true Prophetic ummah.

On July 30, 2017, we hosted a community barbecue and potluck at a park. The event became a beautiful space for community members of different backgrounds to connect with one another and to develop our relationships. The day featured outdoor game rentals for the kids, soccer, basketball, and a refreshing social experience. Over 500 people attended the July barbecue showcasing a profound diversity of ethnicity, age, and food. Furthermore, we were blessed to have many members from other Masaajid and communities attend. 

Given the sucess of the event, starting in Muharram (September 21, 2017), the ISBCC will host similar event once every month for at least 12 months. Each of these events will serve as spaces for us to grow organically closer as a community and pratice the Prophetic ideal of Mu'akha. 

The Prophet (PBUH) Said: “There is no deed that is better in the sight of Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of Al-Adha”.

Through these blessed first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah, this is an opportunity to grain tremendous reward, and with your help we can make these events possible.

Event Costs

The previous community barbecue served over 500+ people. The main expenses consisted of:

• games and/or space rentals $1,000
• food and drinks $1200
• supplies and/or permits $300,

These all tally up to an average cost of $2,500. We anticipate a similar budget for each social event. In order to host a monthly event year round, we are budgeting $30,000 (12 X $2,500). We're now asking you on these blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah to contribute what you can and make this an on-going reality by the will and aid of Allah (swt) .
