To support the Friends of the Blind association in Ramallah, is to support education and health. No one is helpless in this life when they lighten burdens.

What is the Friends of the Blind Association?

The Friends of Blind association is a program that aims to aid the visually and auditorily impaired. Friends of the Blind provides educational opportunities for blind and poor sighted vision at primary and secondary levels. They also work towards combating the stigmas and ignorance of children with disabilities in the region. Palestinian children with these disabilities are often denied access to education increasing illiteracy of the disabled in the region.

Who are the Children and Families?

The Friends of the Blind program eases the strife of accessibility for the children and families that are distant from the school by providing the children with hostiles and 3 meals a day. Providing these families and children who are living under military occupation with funded schooling and living space helps diminish many of the struggles that are spun in generational spirals for the Palestinian people. There are currently over 65 students, ranging from 5 -16 years of age ( Grades 1-10) by providing them with the essential services such as an established printing center to print all the school books in Braille language. They also have established a Center for selling manual Braille machines, roll papers, devices, and programs relevant to blind.

Who Am I?

Campaign by humanitarian and University  of North Carolina @ Charlotte student, Laila El-Ali. A Palestinian from Arrabeh, Jenin, who has worked in Palestine and the USA non-politically and religiously to provide pure aid to the civilians in the West Bank and Gaza, Palestine.

This will be my 3rd campaign with Penny Appeal USA, however this one is immersive and special because in March 2020 I will be traveling to Palestine to see the aid and work that has been done in the West Bank for the Palestinian people. During the next few months I will be training for the annual Run for Palestine in the streets of Jerusalem and I wanted to open this project to give thanks to Penny Appeal USA and the Palestinian people for giving me the opportunity to spread my community and I’s blessing.

Things I will be doing there:

-distribute food parcels to refugees

-run the annual Palestine race

-visit Al Aqsa mosque

Published May 3, 2019, Noha Hamid and the Penny Appeal USA team traveled to Ramallah, Palestine to aid and immerse in the lifestyle and wellness of the children and families living a better life through the Friends of the Blind association. This has inspired me to support the children with disabilities in the West Bank and provide them with the educational and health tools and facilities for their prosperity.  This YouTube video provides an inside look on the work that has been done.

"Friends of The Blinds Association is part of the Penny Appeal USA's Education First Program. In Palestine there are visually impaired, blind, deaf and children with disabilities. They aren't granted the same education as other children their age and are rejected from schools. Some of them that do go to average schools aren't given the correct education that they need and are bullied sometimes. FBA has an amazing facility that I was able to visit in Ramallah, Palestine this March with Penny Appeal USA." - Noha Hamid
