My name is Madeeha Syed. I'm 18 years old and a freshman in college. Ever since I was young, I've always been passionate about helping others in need because I have been given the necessities in life, Alhamdulillah, where other people have not. Over the past few years, I have occasionally donated and raised money for campaigns through Penny Appeal; however for the past year, my goal has been to raise enough money to build a complete water well in an area where it's desperately needed. The water crisis is the one of the biggest issues in our world today, and I hope to contribute in making that end.
By donating to this water well, whether it be $1 or $100, you will be changing the lives of children and adults in developing communities. Instead of tired women having to travel miles upon miles for water, they will have water available right by their homes. You'll be providing them with something that they are unable to provide for themselves, which is something that will be so greatly rewarded.
Together, we can take a step forward to end the water emergency in developing countries!

Assalamu alaykum everyone! I could not be more excited to share with you all that we have raised over $5000 USD to build one entire well in an impoverished community in Africa!! One well can provide an average of 500 people with clean drinking water. Jazakullah khair to each and every one of you for donating to this cause. May Allah SWT reward you for your generosity and may you all be rewarded for every drop of water consumed from this well. Ameen.
With that being said, there are some changes I have been notified of by Penny Appeal USA. Penny Appeal has reached operational capacity in terms of resources they can sustain on the ground in The Gambia. Therefore, they are shifting efforts to other countries in the meantime to continue providing water across Africa. For this reason, the well that we have collectively raised money for will be built in another impoverished area that Penny Appeal USA is connected with. It will be relocated to an area in Pakistan.
Additionally, due to some unforeseen difficulties, I will be closing this campaign in 3 days with one well complete, rather than my initial intention to raise $10,000 for two wells, so if anyone would like to make a last donation or spread the word, please do so within the given time frame!

I could not thank you all enough for your donations. One tactic I used to raise money recently was by collecting change. I scavenged through my parents room for all their loose change, my wallet, and asked a few community members of my local masjid to contribute as well. Alhamdulillah through that alone, I managed to collect over $55!!
It doesn’t matter how much one donates, but the intention they have while donating. Jazakullah khair to every single one of you who donated even a penny from your own pocket because it has all accumulated to get this campaign over $3600.
