Growing up I had always thought amazing artwork was online done by computer. Once I had witnessed that people can create such beautiful spectacles I made it my life’s mission to train my hands to do just that. From that point on my ambition and desire to learn calligraphy only grew. There a few resources available for English calligraphy, but there was nothing for Arabic. With the lack of instruction and support, I decided to take it upon myself to learn on my own.

Fast forward to a decade and a half later and here I am, a self-taught artist residing in the Greater Vancouver Area. Learning calligraphy was by no means easy. However, the lessons I learned on my journey taught me so much more than just calligraphy. Dedication, determination, and attention to detail are three things I never understood until I picked up a pen and started to write.

Traditionally Arabic calligraphy is very structured and disciplined art. For many it can be extremely overwhelming. Each letter is scaled based on the nib size of the pen. Not to mentioned it usually costs quite a bit to start learning calligraphy as well.

Grey Lines provides an alternative for those who just want to learn about the general concept of calligraphy and pen control. It eliminates the need to purchase expensive pens, inks, paper and other materials to get started. All you need is a normal permanent marker and any of the workbooks.
