Why are am I doing this?

My name is Hassan Shibly. I'm a Syrian American from Lebanese roots. The Lebanese people have been going through an economic crises long before the tragedy hit the on Aug 4th. The people of Lebanon have been through a lot in the past couple of decades, from the civil war, to the economic crises, and more. I'm launching this campaign with Penny Appeal USA to provide relief and aid to the people of Lebanon who are facing a really hard time these days, especially from the explosion that happened in the capitol Beirut, and has affected so many people lives and properties. I have had the honor of working on relief projects in Lebanon in the past, and I hope I could continue this work with Penny Appeal USA in this campaign InshAllah.

What are we doing? 

Lebanon is undergoing the worst economic crisis in the nation’s history. According to the UN, almost half of the country is living below the poverty line. In cities such as Tripoli, the poorest in the country, 60%  of the population has an income of only $1 per day. Receiving food and medical aid from humanitarian organizations is the only way that many are able to survive. Lebanese people fear that poverty will end more lives than COVID-19, which has already ravaged the small nation of six million.

Tragedies of this magnitude can make you feel like there’s nothing you can do, but you can help! you can make so much difference by providing food parcel, medical packs, fuel, and even a monthly rent for families in need.
