​What's the issue?

Today, Al-Makassed is the leading medical center in Jerusalem, Palestine, providing health care services to patients who are referred by the Ministry of Health from the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem. The hospital maintains 13 different wards with a total of 256 beds. With the growing needs of the hospital comes a growing need for funding. The purpose of this campaign is to help Al-Makassed expand its units to serve more patients. Unfortunately, the neonatal unit is at full capacity and turns down 40-50 preterm babies each month. That is 40-50 babies who do not have an equal chance at life. 

How will this campaign help solve the problem?

Through this campaign we will be helping the hospital construct their neonatal unit to serve a growing patient population. By helping fund the construction of the neonatal unit, you will be helping the hospital grow and take on 450-600 neonatal patients a year.

Why are we doing this campaign?

As parents of two children who had a combined stay of 6 weeks in the neonatal unit, we understand that without such resources, our children would not be here today. The equipment such as incubators, heart monitors, and ventilators needed for preterm babies are crucial to their survival and without them our children's future would be a lot different. We are eternally grateful for having these resources available to us and are committed to making sure other parents in similar situations can provide their children with the long and healthy future they deserve. 

Below are examples of the lifesaving equipment needed for the survival of newborn babies. Both our children (pictured below) spent the crucial first moments of their lives here.

What will all of funds from this campaign go towards?

The funds from this campaign will go towards purchasing the following for the hospital

Neonatal Unit - Funding the construction of the neonatal unit to serve 400-650 more patients per year.

Patient Monitors - Helping purchase more patient monitors for the purpose of monitoring pulse rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure and body temperature.

Infant Incubators - Helping purchase 10 or more neonatal incubators that provide thermal support for neonate patients. 

Ultrasound Machine - Helping fund an ultrasound machine for the neonatal unit.
