Peace and blessing upon you all!

My name is Khansa A. Shahid and I am a Culinary Arts student Delhi State University in upstate, New York.

I am a mother of two (Ali and Abdullah), a full-time, commuting Culinary Arts student and have been blessed with the opportunity to further my culinary education by studying abroad in Italy this Summer. I have started this campaign to raise $6,000 which will cover the following:

Round trip airfare, 17 days stay at an Italian resort/hotel

Transportation for culinary tours to Rome, Venice, and Turin, as well as transportation to Asti, Farrero, Parma and Nettuno Italy.

I have obtained my associate degree in Culinary Arts (Baking) and am currently attending school to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts Business Management. I compete in annual American Culinary Federation competitions and often bake outside of school. I make custom cakes and cupcakes, and donate baked goods to charitable events, Eid, weddings, birthday parties, and other special events.

I have also helped make and sell baked products for -Baker’s Street-, Delhi University’s class run baking business which helps raise funds for various cake decorating and packaging supplies for the campus’s baking program.

I have sought to farther my culinary education by attending culinary conventions, enrolling in online culinary classes, enrolling in summer internships at a local bakery and at the Otesaga Resort/Hotel, in upstate New York.

Studying abroad in Italy will help me obtain my bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts Business Management, as it comes with 3 credited course hours. It also counts as continuing education hours, which will aid me in obtaining my certificate as a certified Pastry Chef in the future. 

I’m eager to learn and overflowing with excitement to study abroad and learn from some of the best chefs in the culinary industry and take my culinary skills to the next level!
