The only public Islamic library in Mongolia is about to close. AND YOU CAN HELP SAVE IT! 

Islam and Mongolia shared a rich historical narrative during the Mongol Empire. Many Mongols who converted to Islam intermixed in Muslim countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, modern-day Mongolia is home to about 2 MILLION Muslims. 

There is only 1 public Islamic Library in Mongolia, as a reliable and in-depth source of knowledge for the Deen, and we are trying to save it!

We are raising an entire year's rent (1200 $). Any excess will be used to update the book shelves, support free English/ Arabic classes, the latest addition of "halal tours" for tourists and locals, and as capital to fund a small coffee shop that will generate sustainable income for the library.

You may give a basic donation of 10 USD, 25 USD for 1 week's rent, 100 USD for 1 month's rent, 600 USD for 6 months' rent or 1,200 USD for 1 year's rent.

Who is our Muslimah Librarian?

The only Public Islamic library in Mongolia was founded by a Muslim revert, Sister Fatimah bin Abdullah. Bolortsetseg Bariisaa, born into the Halh Mongol tribe, found Islam after studying different religions almost her whole life. She learned Arabic in UAE and studied the Quranic sciences in Turkey. After 16 years of being a Muslim, she has taken the responsibility to share the Deen and its wide array of knowledge to other Muslims, locals and tourists in her hometown in Mongolia.

Why does Mongolia need an Islamic library?

As a Muslim in Mongolia, she saw the need to revive a more holistic approach to Islamic education that is diversified in approach, but grounded in Quran and sunnah. There are other libraries inside the mosques, however, she observes that tourists are usually afraid to enter. Since she is a translator on her day-job, she used the vacant space in her office to set up a library - the only public Islamic library in the country. Literally, ANYBODY can come in and read!!! The library hosts an array of books in Arabic, English and Mongolian, and serves coffee and tea for those who stay to discuss. Sister Fatimah also conducts "halal tours" for tourists and locals, for those who want to go to learn more about the Muslim community. 

The library are also organises FREE Arabic and English classes for Mongolian students.

How to support #MuslimsInMongolia?

Sadly, the only public Islamic library in Mongolia is currently closed due to rent problems. 

The rent of the office is 250000MNT per month or 128$/ month. This excludes tax of 143000MNT or 73$. Hence, the total rent every month is about 200$.
