Help Tayba Foundation Accept 200 Waitlisted Students , NOW!!

Help bring Islamic education to 200 eagerly awaiting prisoners

Tayba Foundation is dedicated to serving Muslim students in U.S prisons by providing them with quality courses in Islam. We have successfully delivered a program of Islamic education to hundreds of students in the US prison system since 2008. We are asking for your help to accept 200 more students by the end of 2015.

"People don't realize how a man's whole life can be changed by one book"   Malcom X

Tayba Foundation comes to solve the problem of lack of sound Islamic education inside prisons. There is an increase of conversion to Islam inside prisons but very little access to knowledge and teachers. We have over 12 years experience in educating Muslim inmates and 400 students registered in our Fall 2015 Semester Islamic correspondence program. The number of application requests are  growing every day and we need funds to embrace these students.

Students Stories

Below is a picture of Stephan before and after his conversion to Islam. At Tayba Foundation we are grateful  to our Creator for giving us the chance to  positively impact the lives of our students. We hope that through education they will gain their freedom and have a successful reentry..Ameen.

Why do we need to do this?

It is estimated that 90,000 Muslims are incarcerated  in U.S prisons. The majority have embraced Islam inside prison. These men and women, our brothers and sisters, have very little access to quality Islamic material, and yet, they are seeking it now more than ever. Islam changes hearts, minds and it changes people for the better. What they need now is sound education, in a format designed for their unique circumstances.

Does education makes a difference?

Yes. The majority of our students are either brand new to the faith, or are newly practicing. The right education is priceless for them, and unfortunately for many it’s difficult to access anything. Without knowledge, and without a connection to the outside world, they can quite easily take a wrong path, or worse, lose their faith altogether. The right education enables them to strengthen their faith and work towards perfecting their practice, both inside prison and after they are released.

What are our best success stories?

We have many success stories! In fact, we like to think of every Tayba student as a success story. Some of our best students go on to teach others, and make the greatest positive impact to society. Below, are 4 former Tayba students who became successful after their release. Click on the picture to read or view their stories and much more.

How do we teach students in prison?

Our courses are designed to cater to the  specific needs of inmates. We begin by sending them courses on the very basics of faith, practice, and character reformation. Each student completes a number of assessments and by the end of the  semester they send back their work for grading.

Below is a chart representing Tayba Foundation students by State ( Fall 2015)

What material do we send the students?

We produce textbooks tailored to students in prison, which are based upon widely accepted texts that are taught throughout the Muslim world. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all the course work fits into a specific theme of character reformation. We believe that character reformation is the key to not only working with current or formerly incarcerated men and women, but also to their eventual release and reintegration into the greater society.

Who is behind Tayba Foundation?

Tayba Foundation was founded in 2008 by Sh Rami Nsour. Since then, Tayba Foundation has been providing  current and formerly incarcerated men and women with quality Islamic education geared towards the refinement of their thinking and behavior, positioning them to transition to society more productively. Tayba Foundation is run by a staff team of five, with the support of volunteers all over the world. Tayba foundation's work has been recognized by the San Francisco Sheriff Office, chaplains and others within the prison system.

Every time we receive a letter from a student asking to be part of our program, we don't have the heart to tell them our budget can't handle more students.  So instead, we turn to our supporters to ask them to help us increase our student capacity, and you have answered the call. May Allah reward you immensely.
