Ikhwa is a community-based organisation that engages with brothers to create something no other class, course, event or programme can do: Brotherhood!

We don’t just run any old class or course, our core purpose is to create a sense of unity, togetherness and belonging for our brothers, who come from all walks of life, in order to attempt to recreate the original brotherhood of the companions. Our work emphasises individual character development, strong bonds between all brothers and a teamwork approach to all that we do. The Prophet (pbuh) said:

“Keep company of a believer only and let your food be eaten only by the righteous.” (Tirmidhi)

“A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend” (Abu Dawud)

The first thing that the Prophet (pbuh) did when he came into Madinah was to establish the bonds of brotherhood between the Muhajirun and Ansar, this was the foundation of the first Islamic society that then went on to spread Islam across the world.

Ikhwa strives to imbue all its members with the true spirit of brotherhood that is based on the bond of iman first and loving one another for the sake of Allah – free from tribal or material loyalties.

Our goal is to produce young men that embody the attributes of iman – such a goal cannot be achieved except by first producing a supportive and reinforcing environment of trust and brotherhood between all those who seek to go on this journey with us

Why should you support Ikhwa?

In today’s secular society individualism dominates. This has affected even the practising Muslim community, where we see an amazing number of classes, courses and seminars taking place, yet it is characterised by separate individuals who come, learn and go away. The spirit of brotherhood has been lost, through our activities, we aim to not just facilitate Islamic learning and development but engrain brotherhood within it. We want everyone who engages with us to feel a sense of belonging, friendship, unity, togetherness and ultimately brotherhood. We want to be like musk as described by the Prophet

‘The example of a good pious companion and an evil one is that of a person carrying musk and another blowing a pair of bellows. The one who is carrying musk will either give you some perfume as a present, or you will buy some from him, or you will get a good smell from him, but the one who is blowing a pair of bellows will either burn your clothes or you will get a bad smell from him.” [Sahih Al Bukhari]
