Helping. Healing. Caring.

Introduction

The Muslim population in Poland has been growing in recent years. Although there are no official statistics on the number of Muslim societies, it is known that 80% of Muslims in Warsaw are immigrants, most of them refugees from Chechnya, Syria and Iraq.

In Europe, Poland has the highest number of Chechnya’s refugees due to its location next to Russia. The endless conflict in Chechnya caused the Chechen migration to Poland. Due to the lack of accommodation in refugee camp, most of them chose to search for work outside of the camp (as suggested by the Polish government). However, their status as refugees without Polish citizenship, prohibited them from finding jobs and permanent placement. Most of these refugees currently live in disadvantaged situations, with no food as well as financial difficulties preventing them from acquiring daily necessities. For example, some of them are disabled families and single mothers who need to take care of their children.

The absence of formal organisations to manage their welfare leads to inefficient communication of information to the refugees here.

The Mosque, which is the main center of Muslim affairs in Poland, is often faced with financial problems to help and carry out missionary activities to Muslims in Warsaw. Furthermore, there are only a few Islamic activities being carried out at present which causes difficulties for them trying to have a deeper understanding of Islam.

Our Missions

  • Carry out a missionary and humanitarian mission called 'Let's Bring Back the Smile Project 2.0' aiming to assist Muslim refugees in Warsaw, Poland.
  • It is jointly organized by Muslim Care Europe (MCE) and the Malaysian Islamic Students Platform (PRiSM) UK.

Our Objectives

  • Assist war-displaced Chechen/other refugees requiring financial assistance, particularly to provide basic needs such as winter clothes and food packs.
  • Create a platform to establish mutual relations and understanding between volunteers in Europe/Malaysia and Muslim communities in Poland in order to ease future humanitarian efforts for them in the area. The differences in language and nation to be a barrier toward establishing a good relationship. We wish for this meeting to serve as an opportunity to bridge the gaps of nationality and language through sharing, kindness and giving the suffering an avenue to express the problems they are facing.
  • Improve the condition of the mosque in Skalnicowa. This is an initiative to help Muslim communities in Poland conduct Islamic activities for the spiritual enrichment of the citizens.
  • Fostering leadership qualities among volunteers and opening their eyes towards the hardships faced by refugees in other parts of the world, oftentimes as a result of conflicts that are not commonly known amongst the Malaysian student population.
  • Cultivate awareness amongst the public about the hardships and pressures faced by Chechnya's refugees in Poland.
