The Islamic Society of the New River Valley (ISNRV) and communities like it are some of the most important communities you've never heard of! Our Masjid is at the heart of Virginia Tech, one of the largest public universities in the country.  This means that we receive the youngest and brightest muslims from all over the world during the most vulnerable and impressionable time in their life. We also receive droves of young families from all parts of the world who have Blacksburg and our community as their first experience in the United States. We take that responsibility seriously and have, with the blessing of Allah, been a transformational force in young people's lives for nearly thirty years.

However, we have seriously outgrown our current (and only) facility in Blacksburg. Despite being a small town, we must hold two Jummah prayer services to accommodate for the lack of space,  and we struggle to provide adequate parking for our elderly and disabled  brothers and sisters. Additionally, our expanding weekly religious school is overflowing trying to accommodate our 80+ students. We are using converted offices and utility closets as classrooms, and cramming four classes in both of the brothers and sisters prayer areas.

“When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).” (Muslim)

However, a great blessing is available to us with Allah’s and your help. The land adjacent to our property is on the market, and we are seeking to make an offer to expand our masjid and provide an Islamic space for our ever-growing community. The offering price is $1.2 million, but our community members have worked hard and helped us raise over $750,000 so far. We need your help to achieve our goal and raise the remaining amount required to make an offer and lock-down the property for our community.

Now, we are seeking your help to expand our  center and build strategic spaces that help us fulfill our mission of  serving the student and broader community. These include study spaces,  gym, and classrooms that will help us provide healthy masjid-centric  activities for our community and spaces that provide room for our youth and young community members to grow and develop spiritually, and allow  us to invite more outside scholars to our community.
