ONE GIFT FOR A MILLION HOPES

This is how SALAM volunteers spent their Saturday! Volunteer work will always be the best choice for them besides involving themselves in other things. They always show their interest and commitment in giving back to the communities in need and SALAM regards our volunteer work as a meaningful way to bring about changes! Our volunteers helps to build strong communities by cultivating an ethic of sharing, helping and caring.

This effort has been shown in giving back to the community program called Smile of Syawal which have taken place over the weekend at Kg Sijangkang, Teluk Panglima Garang, Selangor. 25 volunteers including the students from the nearby Pusat Pengajian Maahad Tahfiz Sentral Ulama and the staff from Kuala Langat Municipal Council have joined force to do the spree cleaning and upkeep at Makcik Asmah and Pakcik Muhammad's house. This elderly couple has been living in their untidy house for years. They have no children to help them and both are not in a position to sustain themselves due to their sickness. Makcik Asmah has been diagnosed with a heart problem and her husband was bedridden due to his vertebrae spinal cord pain. With this in mind, SALAM volunteers initiate to give this elderly couple a hand by contributing their time, energy and efforts. Their main objective is to put a SMILE onto Makcik Asmah and Pakcik Muhammad's faces, especially during this blissful month of Syawal. Kudos!

The mission of this project is to ensure that the members of society who are extreme poor and unable to afford food can be reached out in a way that is both warm and empathetic. The heart of this project is antipathy for poverty and hunger within our communities.

This is a program initiated by SALAM to collect non-perishable food items to be distributed to the marginalized communities and disaster victims in Malaysia and neighboring countries.
